It makes sense why Penn State wants Mullen.

I believe it is possible to sumise that when Hud was interviewed by the Old Myth "committee" he may very well have told Old Myth a little too much regarding his desire to go to State "if " Mullen left. It wouldn't have took a rocket scientist to figure out at that point that Hud may very soon be offered the MSU job. That would also explain all the "too much Bulldog in him to hire at Old Myth" talk from the committee. So, in a since, I could see Old Myth busting him out publically to try and throw recruiting. Y'all honestly think Bammer and Awbarn hold a monopoly on undercutting each other's schools.

I've thought of the possibility of it being an elaborate marketing ploy, but what does MState really stand to gain from that if all he is going to do is say that Ole Miss is making up these lies instead of saying "Yes, I went and interviewed and turned it down because MState is where I want to be." Maybe it's more than that and falls into recruiting.
I don't think the rumors will die until Penn State's new coach is named....Now, whether that coach will be Merlin or not.....
