Dan Mullen is furious about these Penn State rumors, so furious that he's interviewing for the job.

UPDATE:

quote:

Dan Mullen vehemently denied a report today that he is expected to interview for the Penn State job in the coming days.

The Penn State affiliate of Rivals.com reported Friday afternoon, via tweet, that Mullen will interview for the job Monday.

When asked point blank if he will interview for the Penn State job Monday, Mullen said, succinctly, “No.”

Mullen, who denied a Jackson television report Tuesday that he was “close” to signing a deal with Penn State, admitted that he was tired of speaking about the reports linking him to Penn State. He said he was breaking “policy” when speaking with The Clarion-Ledger in a phone interview Friday about other schools and job openings.

“Amidst all of these reports, neither myself, my agent or the administration at Mississippi State University has been contacted by anybody at Penn State,” Mullen told The Clarion-Ledger. “I’m very happy of the direction the Mississippi State program is going in right now.”

No worries here. If he stays, good for him. If he leaves, good for him and we have options.

I would be worried if I were a State fan. Miss State and Ole Miss are likely to compete with Texas A&M on candidates within the region.

We would have Manny Diaz and HUD on the short list and I would be happy with either of those choices. HUD being my #1 choice if Dan were to leave. He was rumored to be a candidate for the Ole Miss search but withdrew his name.

I'm not worried at all. Nothing we can do about it. If he decides to leave, more power to him. If he takes the job he must think its better for him. I'll never fault a man for trying to better himself.

I hate it for the Bulldogs - but this is a great opportunity for Mullen. Penn State has to rebuild their $50 million program. Mullen has the 20 to 25 years it will take to do this. Assuming they aren't overly concerned about anything other than running a clean program, being competitive and just doing the basics for 3 or 4 years, it is probably a good-to-great fit.

Good luck to Mullen and I believe he's gone.

I'd honestly rather he stay

he can't recruit and seems to be a very mediocre coach

but at the same time it would be fun to see an MSU meltdown

I dont think you'll see a meltdown as long as Hud takes over aside from a few crazies here or there.

This.

I won't even be mad. The biggest concern I would have would be recruiting, but as long as we get Hud (or Diaz) in quickly I think we will be okay.
