Mett actually beat out Murray, by Richts accounts

do you have a link for that?

Because I knew 2 people on staff with the team during that time, and was given access to watch several practices, and to my knowledge there was no point at any time that mett was beating out murray. The biggest reason people (mostly lsu fans) seem to think that is because of a televised practice (spring game) in which mett did better.

But by all means, if you have a link I'll eat my words.

Although its unlikely to happen, it would actually be the best case scenario for LSU to have Richt come in even for a year to clean up the offense and also bring in his QB recruit. His pay is subsidized so he would be making a good chunk of change anyway, he would prob have new energy and new life here and even win a National title...which he hasnt done since Florida State.

If and this is a big "if" we can pull in Richt as the OC that would be freaking huge! Very good chance that Jason Eason would follow him here. Richt might not want to be a head coach again. Look at Kiffin.

the fact that they hadnt made a decision on the starting QB before the incident is enough to prove my point that it was back an forth, im sure there were plenty of days Richt really had to do some thinking...

you may not have to eat your words, but you certainly arent right thinking that Murray was hands down better than Mett...

LINK

quote:

“I thought it was very close,” Richt said.

quote:

But before the battle to start at quarterback could reach a critical mass, an event occurred in a south Georgia bar that would ultimately make the UGA coaches’ difficult decision for them. Zach Mettenberger had been arrested for misdemeanor sexual battery, in which he plead guilty, and was ultimately released from his scholarship by coach Richt and the University of Georgia.

quote:

“I doubt both of us would have stayed,” Murray said. “I am sure one of us probably would have left. You could be talking to him right now, and I could be at LSU or another school.”

I agree, it may not be for as long as we want him here, but the itch to coach and call plays is there... I think with his resume and his status he is a guy that Miles would have to let go of the reins. Miles has to respect the hell out of him.

I actually think Kiffen would like to be the head guy again... Richt as well but we might have a 1 or 2 year window where he wants to get back to the fundamentals of coaching...not all the admin and PR work that goes with it.

He could save Miles' job by coming in and cleaning up the offense. Otherwise i dont see Miles and Cam significantly improving things on offense and we'll be back to the same coaching change talk next year.

There will be plenty of Head jobs out there for Richt this year if he wants, but none better than UGA. If he came here and ramped up the offense, his name would be top of the list for next year's coaching carousel which could include bigger gigs like Texas.

My dream is the Richt takes one of two jobs:

1. Head Coach at UVA, or
2. OC at LSU

COME ON MARK, BOTH ARE EXCELLENT CHOICES! I NEED THIS!

You people kill me. Richt isn't going to LSU and he certainly isn't going to Texas. He will be the head coach at a lower tier p5 school where he can build something and expectations are not through the roof, a la Virginia, Maryland. I could see him possibly taking Mizzou if he wants to keep competing at a high level but I doubt it.

He was intrigued by the UVA job before deciding to go to UGA. Would be a great fit for him and UVA could not do better.

UVA's best coaches in history are George Welsh (who was excellent) and then....? Maybe Al Groh? Need a solid hire now to overcome the abomination that was the Mike London era.

If Richt doesn't happen, which it probably won't, I shutter at the possibility of the administration bungling this big time.

He looks good in red.

Thus, he should stick with that and go to Rutgers.
