I am all for banter between people who have actually served. My problem is with people who have never worn the uniform feeling entitled to put down on different branches. Not just Navy, all branches for whatever reason.
It is not the critic who counts but the man in the arena.

I have proudly severed in the United States Navy for 18 years. I have heard over the years all of the gay jokes, how the Marines are the men's department of the Navy, etc. There are jokes about the other branches, too.
Why is it acceptable to degrade individual branches of the Military? Joking around when two service members are together is one thing but to publicly put down on any branch is asinine to me.

Sure, the Marines are the second ones to go into combat (behind the SPECOPS) and they deserve the all the credit they receive.
Do not discount my brothers and sisters onboard destroyers, submarines, and various aircraft that are protecting our shores from foreign submarines and other threats as we speak. Just because they do not make the news on a daily basis does not mean that you have earned the right can call them queers or speak down towards them.

No thank you. He was never the same after losing his water distribution engineer to a cross town rival. There is no coming back from blowing a halftime lead in the Bourbon Bowl to a lightening in a bottle SCLSU team with a cross-dressing head coach. Perfect fit for Florida.

Now add a bulletproof vest, gun belt, M9, and stand watch for 5 hours port side of a Destroyer in Jacksonville, FL from 1200-1700 in July. Many boys became men standing that watch.
