Kelly's track record helps him dodge some of the same skepticism Ed got when hiring new coordinators; however, the person that hired a staff so terrible that entire defensive side needed to be fired also being the person evaluating the hiring of the incoming staff should make some uneasy. He has a history of good DC hires so there's that.....just not a sure thing as some think.

I'll give him a pass for the 1st round of hires. He was trying to fell every spot while also reconstructing the entire football department as well as bringing in 40 new players. This time around he will not have that excuse though.

On paper House wasn’t terrible (UK, Allen, etc) and he did do some things well in ‘22, namely halftime adjustments.

Whatever the hell happened this year though… oof.

The staff got destroyed when Linsey had a stroke. He didn’t offer to step aside. So….BAM! Divisive law suit avoided.

This comes close to duplicating the same mistakes people made when trying to predict what was going to happen to House. Turns out those people were just pulling shite out of their asses.

Health is one thing, but what was impressive about Lindsey to begin with? That hire reeked of just find me a DL coach in the SEC who will take double his salary to come to LSU. Anyone, doesn’t matter.

Most of BK’s defensive coordinators have gone on to be head coaches. BK does a great deal of homework with his hires. He also actually does an in person in depth interview with them unlike a certain coach with a midlife crisis that tried to destroy the program.

I feel like if we had solid talent this staff could have skated by and been good enough.

The issues we had were just exposed them as having no clue when things go bad.

We really underestimated the talent on last years team. Yes we had a pulled together a secondary from really low profile players, but Garner and JBC were 5th year gamers. And Roy and Baskerville were not bad either.

He wasn't not terrible on paper, he was minimally a good hire, maybe very good, on paper. 2022 was a decent season considering where the team started at the end of 2021.

I just can't believe our talent level was that bad this year. Players out of position, inability to make tackles, poor defensive schemes, that's all on coaching!

Like Insaid, good talent would have hidden the flaws.

1. You aren’t this bad because of just talent.
2. The coaching was terrible.

Look at Ovie dropping into coverage half the time. That’s insane.
