Coaching search

One thing that appears to be consistent with all these coaching searches is the school trying to hire the coach doesn't usually get who they want.
Which leads me to our own coach and the will of the people wanting him gone. It's assumed we can go out there and get a patterson, jack del rio, muschamp, mike nolan, ect. however, it doesn't appear any of these other school's are able to it. It's not like u.s.c. and tenn is chop liver.
this post isn't to say how great miles is or if i think he's the best coach. It's just an observation that if/when our coach is gone, lsu may not be able to hire the guy they want. Just something to think about when your pissed and want the man out asap.

It's all about timing. If the Tennessee or USC jobs would have been open the first week of December, then I think they'd be having more success finding a coach.

Then how come Georgia couldn't get a DC?

I'm sure if LSU were to fire Les in the next few years they'd have feelers out there and have a pretty good idea of who they could land
UT has been left scrambling due to the pure shock of all this.
ND was able to land a big fish because they went into this season well prepared for the possible firing of Weiss.

amazing guys weren't lining up for a job they could possibly have for one whole season

I think UGa is the true cautionary tale. There's a lot of similarities in our programs, and you'd think people would be lining up for that gig.

I am concerned that J Chavis will return to Tennessee to work with Cutcliffe.
Chavis' wife didnt move to BR.

There is a decent chance Richt could be out at the end of 2010. Therefore the incoming DC would likely be there only for one year. No top flight DC wants that risk.

Leslie would just toss another $200k his way. Nothing solves problems like over paying assistants.

He was the biggest up and comer available this season.
He would have been mentioned in every open big job had ND not grabbed him so quickly.

curly was the hottest at the time also!
dc @ georgia was for one year because of the situation
have to remember that coaches have families & lives, such as we do
look @ asst. coaches @ both tenn & tex tec, or usc for that fact- sitting pretty one day & the next all hell breaks loose!

ok, i guess perception is reality.
My bad, i just don't see him in the same light as others. I viewed the big east as pathetic and he's the flavor of the year in that league. r.r., rutgers coach, south florida coach, petrino ect. all considered "hot" coaches at some point. none have really proved anything out of the big east.
i'm glad notre dame got him. would have been disappointed if lsu got him. i see notre dame staying where they are with him.

DC isn't the same as finding a head coach. Alot of the people they were interviewing would have been making lateral moves to UGA for their DC position.
