LSU will frick this head coaching job up...

As many others have pointed out, a 1 year contract would hurt recruiting big time.
I don't think O should be the coach at LSU, but if we're going to give him a chance, it's got to be at least 3 years with no buyout.

Will never ever ever happen. How will you get recruits to your school if they don't know who the coach will be after that 1 year deal is up? You're basically throwing that class away.

Hopefully the person that texted you has no connections and is delusional, because this is the least inspiring route LSU could take.

Why don't you ask USC fans now about if they should have kept O.
What don't you ask Ole miss how that worked out.

You guys put way too much emphasis on the ability to call plays. You think you have to be some master coordinator to be a successful head coach. Not the case at all. If you can hire great assistants and let them do their job, you can still be successful.
I don't believe that's a sustainable model for success at this level of football. What happens when one or both assistants bolt and we're not able to replace them with top assistants? It's a house of cards at best.
Hire the most qualified guy that has a vision for his team and has proven he can skillfully execute that vision. Instead you want Coach O to be a figurehead that lets his assistants do all of the work for him, just so we can hang on to his recruiting. Coach O is a great recruiter but we can get another great recruiter. We need a HC.

I think USC is probably more regretful that they hired an alocholic than they are that they didn't hire O

OM was his first shot as a HC. He's admitted to what he did wrong there, and has changed his ways.

or just ask USC how its worked out so far after hiring an interim based on emotion....

If miles comes out and saying "I should have opened up my offense and found a QB", are you gonna throw him back in the race?
Words are words. Go build another program and PROVE IT

I just find the whole "well give him top flight coordinators and we will be fine!" to be flawed thinking
What's easier to come across top flight OCs or great recruiters?

cool
let him prove it at Kentucky or UCF first before you give him the keys to a program like LSU

I think i've asked you this same question before. But please name me a top 10-15 HC in the country that is not widely considered an exceptional X's and O's guy?
The era of the CEO type coach (Paterno, Bowden, Miles, Mack Brown) is gone.
Having a HC that operates one side of the ball makes it much easier to hire assistants. One elite coordinator is much easier to find than 2....wouldnt you agree?
ETA - i'll give you dabo in advance. Thats all i can think of.

Good coordinators are hard to keep and bad coordinators are hard to get rid of

Correct
O has been waging a PR battle and its working. The hire of Ponamsky alone has the morning show lobbying for him 2 hours every day.

What changes has he shown you, ones that actually win games?

I can't wait to see Derek Ponamsky as our offensive coordinator
Posted on 10/14/16 at 2:16 pm to SportTiger1
The fact is many of the changes he's made are simple the things pretty much things every fan and member of the media have been calling on for years. I get its a breath of fresh air post Miles but frick one smack down of a bad team and we're in the tank for him?
