We are talking about hiring the guy who when he was D.C, his defenses ranked in Total Defense:
2001 - 6th
2002 - 7th
2003 - 2nd
2004 - 28th
2005 - 4th
2006 - 7th
And gave up the following points per game:
2001 - 9.4 points - (led the country)
2002 - 19.0 points - (22nd in the country)
2003 - 15.1 points - (4th in the country)
2004 - 17.0 points - (13th in the country)
2005 - 14.3 points - (4th in the country)
2006 - 15.5 points - (13th in the country)

and he has a name in florida recruiting, namely the miami area. that couldn't help LSU out at all if we had to hire a new DC

Why would we want that? Our D.C not recruiting a single player is working out just fine.
Why make a hire that can help you recruit the state of Florida? Makes no sense

anybody hoping chavis leaves so we can "possibly" get another guy, is just plain stupid.
if you have one of the best d.c.'s who's in high demand, you keep him.
if your catching fish in one spot, you don't leave in hopes of catching more in another spot. just don't understand this logic.

I take everything I hear from coaches with a grain of salt these days, but I don't really see how this is a "word game." I'm not saying that the above definitely means he isn't going to Texas, but that statement is about as good as it gets when it comes to coaches denying rumors.

I'd love for Chavis to move to Texas. It really bothers me that he's at another SEC school. Wouldn't be surprised if he was a bit irked by it too. His heart is still in Tennessee.

Heck I'd move their for no pay raise. If Chavis and Lovey like living in Baton Rouge, they would love living in Austin. Now, there's nothing, absolutely nothing that beats Tiger Stadium. If I could live in Death Valley, I would. However, Baton Rouge the city doesn't come close to Austin.

Well if he goes then we go after a guy like Phil Bennet or the guy from Stanford. I like his aggressiveness. Although he also got burned for big yards against Oregon. Kind of like us against Auburn.
