Fuente is midwest Big12/B1G type guy. But still, very little chance.

Fuente can become a legend at Memphis. Why not just stay there if that's what he wants

You could say the same about Herman. And he's in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. Even the "scraps" left behind by Texas, LSU, Baylor, etc. become NFL talent. Not to mention he has a brand new, expandable stadium.

Money isn't the driving factor to get him. He is very hard nosed about the type of job he would leave Memphis for.

South Carolina isn't one of the jobs he would leave for. And I highly doubt Nebraska would be one of the jobs either.

Texas could get him.

Fuente makes $1.4M at Memphis, with a $500K buyout.... There are 4-5 programs right now that are going to go over $3M for their next HC...what you said isn't true at all.

Memphis can absolutely afford to pay Fuente more than 3M a year.

If Memphis is heading to the Big 12, they will pay a lot of money to keep him as their head coach.

Then why don't they?

Because they hired him as a first time head coach, whose previous position was co-offensive coordinator. Why would you pay someone 3-4 million, if you can get him for 1.5 million.

They will undoubtedly be offering him a raise and contract extension at the conclusion of this season.

Maryland will get Rhule....and try to like it.

Fuente will leave i'm pretty sure and go to a P5 school but it won't be Maryland or either USC.

I would take Herman, Fuente, or Rhule but I give Herman an edge because he worked with Meyers and has the killer offence.

Are there even any rumblings of a Big 12 expansion happening anytime soon?

0.00%

Fuente is very grateful to Memphis for giving him this opportunity to be a HC. He's not going to jump for just any job. Texas, OU, and maybe UGA opening, I'd think he'd go. I don't think he'd jump to Maryland or Nebraska. He's definitely not a west coast guy, but I don't think he'd get offered USCw anyway.

If I had to bet on it, as it stands today, Fuente would be Memphis' coach next season.

Maryland is a non-power program that resides in a conference designated as power conference (because it has several power teams), and in a division in which they have no chance to win. Win 11 or 12 at Houston, and you get a power program job; win 8 or 9 at Maryland (the equivalent of 11 or 12 at Houston) and you don't.

Fuente and Herman could both waltz their teams into Maryland right now and win by 30+. Hard to imagine either of them leaving for the Terps.

Maryland would be an interesting job if it was in the Big 10 West. Good luck beating Urb, Harbaugh, and Dantonio every year.

Memphis is still a basketball school. Does Pastner being on the hot seat factor into things at all?
