That will be the final nail in the coffin for Dabo at Clemson. Look at every stop Morris has made since he left SMU for Arkansas. At all levels (even high school) he has left destruction behind

Dabo has like a 57 million dollar buyout he doesn’t care at this point and has basically been daring Clemson to fire him.

Dabo will end up on TV. He knows the fire is almost out. This is just him helping out a buddy get one last major contract before retirement or much lesser role.

It's just odd. He's not old and at one time seemed to be a truly elite coach.

His drop off almost doesn't make sense.

Game has changed a lot over last 15 years. Adapt or die. Dabo has openly pushed back on idea of portal and NIL. He hasn't embraced it. Offense hasn't adapted. ACC is kind of bottom of barrell conference for football.

Hiring Chad Morris is just writing on the wall.

He was the definitive CEO coach and to his credit found two coordinators (Tony Elliot and venerables) who were willing to wait on the right situation.

Additionally he had an elite culture built on the TEAM.

While it’s not necessarily a knock against his character (and probably a credit to his character) his skills do not translate at all to college football in 2026

He had some very good coordinators and when he lost them the decline started. Happens to several coaches.

Yep, CEO coaches dont work long term because you have to nail coordinator hires. He did it for awhile with venables and elliot. And now compound that with the portal, and his lack of adaptation, it makes lots of sense

If true, this seems dumb. Why ruin a generational legacy at Clemson.

He could go to them right now and say he wants to step down in a year and they would probably structure his buyout over time where he would get all or most of it, and still maintain a Saban-like role for life. And then he could make millions more on TV.

He said he'd quit if players started getting paid. He just left out that he would stay on the job after quitting.
