Alabama is ranked #8 in Total Defense but everyone will say Golding sucks and plays no part in it because of Saban.

And the whole "Brady had Slinger" thing is irrelevant because he would also have Kelly here. Don't forget Kelly is an offensive coach as well

Steele didn’t suck, but he was an average X and O DC. He was at Bama for his recruiting and they didn’t fight to keep him when Miles reached out.
It’s hard to say much about Golding as an X and O guy, but that’s not what he known for. He’s a great recruiter and that may be why his job is secure there. We all know who’s system they are running over there.

Saban immediately demoted Steele after one year. He got a promotion to come here. Saban doesn't keep people at DC for 3-4 years bc they can recruit and just say frick it I have so much free time I'll just run the defense myself.
