if this speculation continues and we lose in secCG due to these distractions and miles leaves, he will be the most hated former HC in LSU history ,passing saban, for having a NC right in our hands and his stupid love for M pissed it away.He will never win a NC there.

Can't link it, but it sounds like Domino's Pizza guy wants Les to have the job...
Interesting take. I read the quote and came to the exact opposite conclusion.
Heaping praise on LSU and not wanting to mess w/ our season is a great excuse to not talk to Les right now. It's a great out if they don't want Les but don't want to openly disrespect the guy, either.

Why would you "love" to have a John Gruden who wakes up to an alarm clock that plays the Notre Dame Victory March each morning, yet not want Del Rio out of fear that he'd go to USC "someday"...even though Jack has shown far more interest in taking a job in Louisiana than anywhere else the past three years.

The Advocate - 12:50 p.m. - LSU head football coach Les Miles did his best today at his weekly news conference to quell talk about the vacant Michigan job. "I'm not talking jobs, not looking for jobs, don't want jobs," Miles said. "I've got a great job. I love this place." "I'm doing what you should do: Let it rest."
"I'm not talking jobs," Miles said. "Don't ask me that again."
A little while later, Miles was asked if his players would understand if he considered the Michigan job.
"I'm not giving it a look," Miles said. "That's the key. I'm completely focused on this place.
"I'm a blind eye and a deaf ear. I'm preparing for Arkansas...I don't look forward. I want to stay just where I'm at."

I watched Gruden's PC on espn news this morning and a reporter said that his name had been mentioned by AP for the Michigan job. Gruden said that he had the best job in all of football and liked the NFL.

I wouldn't try to read anything into Miles' statements...he will be as vague as possible without officially withdrawing his name from consideration.

this is what pisses me off a little ... Carr makes a point of saying he's retiring NOW b/c it's in the best interest of Michigan football, and that he doesn't care about anything else. Fair enough. No way is it in LSU's best interest for this to drag out ... if Miles is seriously thinking about bolting, he (or his agent, or rep) needs to contact UM NOW and tell them to make an offer NOW, b/c he's NOT going to LET IT drag out, b/c that would NOT be in the best interest of LSU football. Then he could accept the offer if that's what he wants to do, and Pelini can coach the rest of the season, and perhaps Pelini would be the best choice for head coach after he wins an NC.

Someone earlier mentioned John Fox, HC-Carolina Panthers. That guy would be awesome for LSU. He is probably out at Carolina.

You're right on about that. What pisses me off is that we have to play second fiddle to mighty Michigan and wait for them to make their move. Meanwhile, the distractions continue for Miles and the team. Mandel's article on SI.com asks if Michigan is prepared to wait for our season to be over before they make their offer. LSU should tell them to stay the f*ck away until after the bowl game. I'm sick and tired of the media making us out to be somehow less important than them, as if we have no choice but to behave ourselves like good little southern boys and girls and wait for Big Blue to come steal our coach.

And maybe we can hire Bobby Cox next year if Manieri doesn't get us to the CWS. Perhaps Jeff Van Gundy could come take over for Brady. Unless Phil Jackson is already tired of Buss's daughter.

you are missing something -- those are not good comparisons in this case -- everyone is speculating about DelRio and Petrino but miss the fact that Fox has not won a home game in a year -- Fox could just be the best available prospect if Miles leaves -- at age 52, going to the #1 college program in the US would look a lot more attractive than going to another NFL team where you have to deal with another owner and another salary cap --
in any event, if Miles leaves, LSU will need to think outside the box and try to get a coach that isn't looking for greener pastures --

Yeah then we should try and get Van Chancellor to come coach the women's Bball team....
