If Briles was as guilty as everyone thinks, why did Baylor pay the man a $20M settlement after he was terminated as reported? It seems that if he was fired for covering up rape they wouldn't have given him crap.

As an afterthought, wouldn't he be facing some kind of criminal prosecution if he was complicit in the cover-up?

There's a 3 page thread which has more info than this one at this point.

LINK

I posted my bit on page 3.

Summary: he only appears to have definitely known about one instance and he didn't sweep it under the rug, but the girl didn't want to go forward with the charges. Two posters (Hangit & Bigtater) added that 3 of the players were also already gone and the 4th was already suspended and never played again. And that Briles even reported it to the school's judicial affairs dept. I don't think there's much more Briles was in a position to do for this particular instance if the girl didn't want to move forward.

Nobody has produced any info stating definitely that Briles knew anything else. People suggest he knew more, but there doesn't appear to be anything public that can back that up.

Don't let your fandom cloud your brain on this. What he did was way worse than anything Petrino did and closer to what Paterno and Co did.

Outside of jest I am not ready to jump on Briles train

That said Paterno was told the guy was raping kids and still made sure he had keys to the showers. Disgusting

Just to keep the facts straight, he did not. The girl's coach did. Briles asked the coach if it had been reported and the coach told him it had.

He then had the coach approach the girl to try and get police involved. She did not want to. Briles did a follow up and the coach informed him that, due to the incident being 9 months before, the girl did not want police involved.

If we hire Briles, I will be done with LSU athletics, will send my donations elsewhere, and my kids' tuitions will be someplace else.

I read up on this over the summer. My Fandom does not ever overtake what is right.

What specifically is the reason? The publicly available information does not support the notion that he tried to cover up rape. He encourage the accuser to go to the police. He knew it had already been referred to the judicial council. There may be other non public information that is a lot more damning, but I haven't seen it. I am not saying he is innocent either, but if you have a link demonstrating guilt l would like to see it.

Awful if true, but, still haven't seen anything to confirm this.

It doesn't matter, he's untouchable even for a coordinator role. People who don't see this are living in an LSU fan bubble. We all agree he would make this offense great, and it's a shame if he's just a scapegoat.
Nevertheless, currently, he's untouchable

it's well documented he knew about multiple sexual assaults and did nothing if you can't find anything about it you aren't looking

Not true. I have been looking. There are articles that state he knew about assaults and did nothing. But then they give few examples and the ones they give don't back up that allegation.

He allowed rapists on the team with prior knowledge of their behavior, covered up rapes by football players so he could win, and was dishonest about a lot of it.
Sound like a Bishop to me.

No. But I believe ministers should be mandatory reporters of child abuse, and most other than Catholics are.

Briles was told by the girl's coach that it had been reported to the judicial council, and he encouraged the girl to file a police report, but she declined.

It appears he nothing wrong. I am going to link an article. It is kind of a fluff article. click on the comment section and read the comments by Jonathon Stoops. He explains what Briles did and acted honorably. He provides 4 links to other articles that show he acted honorably and was made a scapegoat.

Thanks for this information. It was very well explained and the facts are there along with at least 5 links. It really sheds light on a few things I was questioning. Unfortunately, people would rather lap up anything the media spews at them and take it for gospel regardless of the facts. Personally, I don't trust MSM with ANYTHING. Thanks again.
