What level of underwhelming is this move? But, but he wowed the data/analytics guys during last years search.

Its comical at this point

Only weird thing is this seems like a super odd fit offensively for what Baker is as a QB.
Despite the tough season, he’s got a lot of potential. But I don’t think you tap into that with a Jake Plummer type offense. Maybe that Kubiack influence was stronger than we know, but then again his best season has been this year with that influence
Great news for Chubb tho

Imagine letting data/analytics guys dictate a head coaching search
this is why the Browns are a dumpster fire.
Being a head coach in the NFL is 99% leadership, hiring/firing/administrative, personnel decisions, building a good culture and locker room, and game planning, and 1% “shite that can be evaluated by data”. Like what are they thinking? That his outstanding ability to consistently convert on 3rd and 11 with swing passes is going to lead the Browns out of shitville? How a franchise can be run by such a collective group of complete fricking idiots is beyond me

Actually it is. I’m as good at data analytics as anyone you’ve ever talked to, and it’s fricking stupid to hire someone for a leadership role because their numbers looked good at OC. Period. They’re not hiring him for OC, they’re hiring him for an administrative role. If want to try to defend it, go ahead, I’ll gladly tell you specifically why you’re wrong
Maybe he’ll be a good HC and maybe he won’t, but it sure as hell won’t be because of a shitty analysis run by the same guys who’ve crippled their culture in favor of stats, which is the Browns’ problem as an organization.

I’m 26 and do data analysis for a living. If data analysis was an accurate method of predicting success on the football field, Vegas wouldn’t be a thing. Culture and leadership is 10000000x more important, hence why the Browns will continue being a dumpster fire. Their organization is filled with “very smart” people who think numbers are the be-all end-all like you.
Go run an analysis and put $10,000 on his success and post the ticket if you’re so confident, bud

You realize they simply used analytics as a tool right? They didn’t put it into a calculator and spit out a candidate. They interviewed candidates and used the data at the disposal.

The stats guys in that building wanted to hire Sean McDermott. Instead they hired Hue due to the “football guys” in the room
The stats guys wanted to hire Stefanski last season. Instead they kept Freddie due to the football guys in the room.
The stats guy (Depodesta) was the one who took control of their drafts after the last regime change and loaded them with draft picks and cap space.
Then they overruled the process because it was taking too long and hire Dorsey who turned some of that capital into quick fix veterans who did not mesh well.
Their issue hasn’t been due to analytics being involved in their organization, their problem is they have no patience to allow that part of the organization to do their job long enough or throughly enough to allow them to figure out if it works or not

You’re gonna have to explain to me how a “will stafanski be a success” bet would work.

I am a 76 year old data scientist and totally agree.....my reaction is this hire immediately feeds into the Bad Coaching Searches" thread.......
Look at how well Stefanski's offense worked yesterday against the 'Niners.....
The Browns may well be doomed for another couple of seasons, wasting the awesome talents they have on board!! I hope I am wrong and the potential of Mayfield, OBJ and Landry gets realized!!

You guys really lose your “data guy” credibility when you start using a singular point of data to make decisions and points

Browns: “What can you bring to our team?”
Josh McDaniels: “I’ve got HC experience, and I’ve been a successful OC for years.”
Browns: “Eh...”
Kevin Stefanski: “Blowout losses that will make you regret watching football.”
Browns: “Perfect. That’s the Browns way. You’re hired.”

I get what your saying but he isn't going o 100% just be in an administrative role.
He is going to be building and calling the offense
I just want to see how baker does this year with a real coach and not kitchens
If this next year doenst go as planned watch out

Nothing is new about the Browns! This is a typical hired for the Browns!
