Believe me, I think LSU needs nothing more than a new staff to rejuvenate the program that both fans and players seem apathetic about.
However, Kelly is not liked by many people adn I can totally seeing a team mutiny against him or a team just flat out not liking him. He could be our next Curly if we're not careful. I do NOT want Kelly to be the next coach. I'd rather Les stay and get a decent pro-style OC.

Kelly is as fundamentally sound a head coach as you'll ever find. His offense, considering he gets called an offensive genius all the time, is pretty basic.
He just knows how to coach and gets the best out of his guys.
I'd take it. I don't care if the dude sacrifices cats to some pagan god on his day off as long as he gets the job done on the field.

LSU would swallow Kelly and so will Notre Dame!
Coaching evaluation is not easy, how would Kelly's recruiting play down south. No one knows.

But his players love him as evidenced by Skyler rooting for him at Bama over LSU.

It's no secret that race relations are huge at LSU. Just look at Kelly's "baggage."
Plus, he's had what 1 decent year and 1 good year so far in his career?

just because a coach is a public a-hole doesn't mean he's an a-hole to his players
and I would even bet most players like hard-asses for coaches

This is true. But why take a chance?

2 years removed from a National Championship and a program needs rejuvenation. Nice. You do realize there's about 30 LSU fans that believe this. I don't think that's the overwhelming number you would need to run Miles away right now.
I'm not posting this to bicker back and forth about Miles, because god knows we've heard the arguments and complaints by fans that are the loudest when LSU struggles.
I just posted this because I found that last line to be funny.
fwiw, I did not like what happened with the La. Tech game. I'll leave it at that.

He's produced at every level he's coached at, tbh. He turned Grand Valley State into a powerhouse on the lower levels and won a few national titles, he turned Central Michigan into a respectable mid-major in the few years he was there and now he's got Cincy on the verge of back to back BCS bowls.
the guy is a legitimate coach and will eventually make some big time program very, very happy. I'm not going to tell you he's the best coach in the country, but he is definitely good.

Since when did 1 = plural?

Even if we dont scrap crowton, we need a qb coach.

I hope I'm wrong, but it just seems the program has lost its luster. I could be way off base there, though. However, I don't think any rational fan has liked what has happened this year. I know we won, but we won't always get the lucky breaks we got at both UGA and MSU. Those teams out played us and we got the W. I'm not saying we should've lost, but those breaks won't keep falling our way with the poor coaching we've seen this year.
FWIW, I'm not calling for Miles to be fired. This is an "if he goes to UM" thread.

Bottom line is W-L's. Not style points like most on the Rant crave.
Perrilloux completely fricked these 2 years up. IMO, if next year is similar to this, that's when I jump off the bandwagon. QB is the most important position on the field and LSU has not had a QB good enough for them to be in that elite status. Just have to give Jefferson time to grow into it like he's doing. It's a matter of patience. Crowton seems to have this problem also. He thinks JJ can run any possible play in the playbook and comes back and bites him in the arse each time.
I know Alabama doesn't have the QB we have, but they do have the RB and defense LSU doesn't have right now. 1st year DC, you're not going to exactly be elite.
Like I said, next year is when it all starts to fit and LSU is back on the pedestal. If not, then that's the time you start to question what's going on. There's just too many obstacles for the team to jump right now to be where most fans want them to be.

Spears and Brady had a lot of respect for him. I can't provide you with a link, but I think Spears used to hang out at a lake to fish with him all the time.

This is true to an extent, but you can't let Miles off the hook for his defensive co-coordinator debacle either. That also played a HUGE part in screwing us over in 08.

I think we have the WR and RB talent to be better than what we turned in at La Tech, Vandy, Wash, UF, and MSU this year.
THe fact that we have an offense at 107th is all on Crowton, which again goes back to another poor hire by Miles. Crowton has been fired everywhere he's been it seems like. What made Miles think it to be any different here?

I agree with this. 9-3 is what I expected this year, but people tend to forget that poor coaching almost had us go 7-5 AGAIN. (MSU and UGA)

Regardless. Be it in sports or business, it's always the bottom line. Just so happens that in sports that the bottom line is W/L. If LSU comes out 10-2 and ranked in the top 5 or 6 at the end of the season, no one is even going to talk about Miss. St or Vanderbilt. I don't care if we win 75-3 or 16-13. A win is a win is a win.
You do what it takes to win. Period. You get paid to do your job and WIN.

Everyone and their mother knows how much Saban has to do with his defenses. That's a hollow argument.
