Regardless. Be it in sports or business, it's always the bottom line. Just so happens that in sports that the bottom line is W/L. If LSU comes out 10-2 and ranked in the top 5 or 6 at the end of the season, no one is even going to talk about Miss. St or Vanderbilt. I don't care if we win 75-3 or 16-13. A win is a win is a win.
You do what it takes to win. Period. You get paid to do your job and WIN.
FWIW, I don't disagree with this at all. I'm just merely pointing out that those breaks won't always fall our way. The wheels will come off if Miles doesn't step his game up and get a competent coaching staff under him at OL and OC. Those guys have been given chance after chance and have underwhelmed.

true to some extent, but Muschamp apparently was the real deal.

I used the dreaded "we", like I'm on the team. I hate when people do that.

then why the frick are we paying miles $4M a year?
i mean what are miles' positives?
1. recruiting? well our OL and DL talent this year strongly disagree with this
2. coaching hires? lane, malleveto, crowton, stud etc. the list of bad hires goes on and on.
3. coaching on the field? none to be judged
4. public face? he's a laughingstock in this regard
we are 2 loss team with a 2 game schedule, and we've struggled to beat some shitty teams
and worst of all, it looked like our players quit, again. that's 2 years in a row

I totally get where you're coming from adn I agree to some extent, but I'd hold judgment on if our players have quit or not until after the Ole Miss game.
It's hard to get up for LaTech after an emotional game at Bama, and it's especially hard to be in the game when you have EXTREMELY poor QB play.

I know. I'm not talking about you, but the Nick Saban talk has approached BILL BRASKY proportions.

This is the last year in LSU football?

You've never made the correct choice? He's fired all these guys. ...or will anyway.

I don't know why public face is even an argument. What do I care what he tells the media?

WIN

tech had an emotional letdown losing to BSU late the week before the LSU game also
just like i know LSU had a ton of injuries, but Tech had more

You know as well as I do that it's easier for Tech to get up for LSU than it is for LSU to get up in a game for Tech.

this is the culmination of miles' recruiting so far while at LSU and we have 1 good DL and like 2 good OL

but he's celebrated for his coaching choices. when half of them suck, it's not a thing to brag about

well he is the CEO of the program
look at bobby bowden. the dirtiest guy in CFB the past 20 years and nobody cares b/c of his public persona
and you can be an a-hole and get away with it also, like saban or bill b

WIN
when you're playing nobodies, not winning is inexcusable except maybe 1 or 2 frickups

yep, brian kelly has only been coaching for two years, EVER
Posted on 11/18/09 at 5:52 pm to Moustache
so Moustache you really think Brian Kelley would come to a school that fired a possible 10-11 win coach?

Aw, Prominentwon, I agreed with every post you had in this thread until you said this.
Can we stipulate that while it's dumb to say we when speaking of a professional team, we can make an allowance for someone affiliated with a university, such as an alum?

If you call improving the record and results of every single D1 school he's ever coached at every single subsequent year, then yea he's had 1 good year.
2004 Central Michigan 4–7 3-5 5th (West)
2005 Central Michigan 6–5 5-3 4th (West)
2006 Central Michigan 9–4 7-1 1st (Overall) Motor City Bowl (did not coach bowl)
2006 Cincinnati 1–0 0–0 NA W International Bowl
2007 Cincinnati 10–3 4–3 3rd W Papajohns.com Bowl 20 17
2008 Cincinnati 11–3 6–1 1st L Orange Bowl † 12 12
2009 Cincinnati 10-0 6-0 1st
Does anyone really think he'd fail if given the shot to coach at a big school? It's really absurd to think he couldn't replicate what he's done at every level...he's the best non established coaching prospect out there by far imo.
