I think this is great. Too many coaches are pure whores and shop themselves around with no loyalty. Good for BC for having some priciples about getting a guy who wants to build the program.

Well it is about time a university puts it foot down and says enough is enough.

I bet there is more to the story than we know. Plus, the loss to Vandy didn't help I'm sure.

Rumor has it that Fulmer and the AD at BC know each other well. It was him who gave a good rec. for Clawson when he was hired at UT.

Fulmer to BC

Meh.. BC really overachieved this year compared to what everyone was thinking they would do, so I think the season did wonders for his job security.

I don't blame him for doing the interview. These schools don't own anyone. He should have done the interview out of spite. Wouldn't want to work for assholes like that anyway.

No loss for him, he will be fine.

Their main beef was that he went on the interview without informing the BC athletic department. They took that as a slap in the face and fired him.

Fired without cause = get paid some $$$ left on contract.

Quit = no $$$$.

Smart move. Now he gets paid and can get another HC gig.

ESPN Radio was saying today that he put his name out for several NFL jobs and wants to get back to the NFL. Can't blame BC here.

He probably has an agent like Sexton. That means, the agent puts the name out in every case. If someone nibbles, get an interview. How do you think we got Saban and Miles? Once the AD mouthed off, the gig was up. No Way was Jags going to back down and look weak to his team and coaches around the country. He had to interview. Who would hire a wimp which is what he would have looked like. Sorry that Jags lost his job, the AD should be kicked way out in left field!! IMHO.....

How does this effect future interest of coaches for the BC job? If I was a coach this would make me wary, that being said kudos to them for putting a foot down!

I think its complete bullshite! What the hell is wrong with a man trying to better himself? Sorry BC, but the NFL is a step up. It'd be a lil different if he was sneaking around interviewing at another school within the conference or even just another college, regardless of conference.

+1

Furthermore, BC will not hire an experienced sought after coach any time in the near future. Good thing they promoted from w/in because nobody worth having would have touched that job.

This will benefit Jags in the long run.
