Tell me how many black coaches are there? How many black schools are there? Can we have an all white school? After all whites are the minority in the South. I am watching NMSU. They listed 10 interviews and 6 of them were black. The AD is black. That is racist. It can go both ways. How would you like to be a white D coach in the market ...........today?? You'd be told, I need a black DL coach or whatever position. Or, if I don't find a black, I'll be in touch. So, get off this race thing! Hire the best coach. Who cares the color of the skin!

so you pull out 2 schools who have traditions but in todays college football they are nothings, and to say Ty was given a fair shake a Notre shame well i want go there but anyway i was just making a comment that most black coaches are not given that shot at the bigger jobs like white coaches. For instances some say you have to prove yourself at a lower tier school as a head coach yet let's go with 2 soon to be head coaches Will M. and Jimbo F. They are promise jobs as head coaches at 2 great schools and all they have been was great coordinators not head coaches anywhere yet. Not saying they won't be but they haven't proven themselves at a lower tier school. So if that is going to be what we go by, do it for all not just some. And really i don't care i want lose sleep all i care about is that LSU makes the right hires.

Yeah, like ND.

Oh, and it's not like UCLA has had any past success or is in a recruiting hot bed.

Please.

Ty Will took ND from utter trash to atleast respectable.. and now that overrated POS they put in his place has just about erased it all, couldnt say a program was more deserving

Part of "proving" yourself includes being a great coordinator at a big school. You can do that or be a great head coach at a small school. Not many black coaches have been either of those.

Willingham is a shitty coach. Willingham was not necessarily as bad at ND as people think, but he was well below average and they were getting worse under his guidance. He sucked as bad as a coach can suck when at UW. His crowning achievement is getting Stanford to a Rose Bowl in a crappy, pre-Carroll PAC10. A great achievement for sure considering it's Stanford, but he has had every opportunity to prove his consistent worth and he has failed (even at Stanford, I believe his overall record was barely above .500). His UW fail was epic and should relegate him to mid-major status for the foreseeable future.

None of what I wrote above has anything to do with the fact that he's black. He just sucks.

While I think he should've been given more time to coach up his own recruits, Ty had one kinda good year and 2 mediocre ones. He was no better than Davie and pretty much left the program where he found it.

Maybe if they had a shot at a good job may be you would see one; most of them get jobs that are hard as hell to win at.

Notre Dame, UCLA, Miami, Kansas St are all pretty good jobs.

I think the UM offense won that game by scoring 41 points. Florida scored 35 points, ran for 230 yards and Tebow threw for 3 touchdowns. The defense didn't help out much.

Kansas St

I don't know how good of a job K State is. I know they won some games and made a BCS bowl, but they played a lot of weak teams. Prince tried to bring them up to big boy levels but just couldn't do it.

As for Ty. He did a good job at Stanford which got him the ND job and he left ND in a better position then he found it under Davie. Those two BCS teams that Wies took over where Ty's second and third recruiting class and were Ty's players. I think it's absolute crap that they would fire Ty and not Wies as they have done the same job to this point in there careers at ND. Ty sucked at Washington, but did bring in Locker and didn't really take on a good program after the fall out from Neuheisel.

All in all, I think Ty got shafted on the ND job and didn't have a chance in Washington, but overall I think he's a decent coach. Not great, but decent.

FWIW & IMHO.

as I see it.....
it is not the being Black that bothers me...

it is the constant shoving it up my A-- that does..
besides, while I acknowledge the disparity of the numbers, Black coaches should work themselves UP thru the system , just like anyone else.

If they are good, they will be recognized.
There is too much money at stake to not recognize the good ones...the problem is that the good ones are being hurt by the promotion of others who are not yet ready.

This is a business where results will be obvious..good or bad, THERE IS NO HIDING.

True and not true. I realize that most posters on here are from a diffrent era than some of the people who "make the news" and discuss this too much. That being said, I realize that some of the ADs and Presidents who make those decisions are from diffrent eras as well.

My take is hire the best guy and if you don't because he is one color or another and you get a crappy coach, you get a crappy coach and that should be your punishment.

I still don't see why Charlie Strong and Turner Gill keep getting passed over for jobs as they are better candidates than some others getting jobs.
IMHO.

Both, have only been in the "bright" spotlight for a year or two. Reality is that ADs also need to worry about $s, as well as results. It is always a gamble to hire a coach, in some cases it is a greater gamble.

If an AD hires a white, proven coach and he does not work out, he fires him and gets a better one.

If an AD hires a white, semi-proven coach and he does not work out, it is likely that the AD will get fired too.

Would you risk your 6 figure job if you did not have to ?

right and wrong are not always that easy....
you'll find out as you age.
