Actually there is a Bayou Lagniatte restaurant around Berwick. Does that mean PJ Fleck is another shrimp boat captain? or maybe from "down the bayou"?

I really like PJ Fleck.

The problem with PJ Fleck is this - while his X's and O's are really good and he's got great energy, the thing about him is he's very much a pop-psychology guy. With Fleck you're doing a whole cult thing; he demands full buy-in on that Row The Boat deal.

And for Western Michigan and Minnesota, where you're going to recruit a lot of 2 and 3 star players and motivate and develop those guys to overachieve in your system, it works. Over the long haul he's going to make Minnesota a Top 25 program and instill a good culture there. He'll do for them what Barry Alvarez did for Wisconsin.

But the question where Fleck is concerned is this - can you sell that Row the Boat stuff to the Leonard Fournettes, OBJ's, Jamal Adamses and Jamar Chases? Because the kids who know damned well that they're already the best player around don't NEED the Row the Boat stuff. Some of them might think it's cool and they'll buy in, but the NFLSU gang is going to scoff at it and go play for Saban.

I do think we need to get away from the NFLSU culture a little. But bringing in Fleck means abandoning it entirely. And there's a big risk of having a big fat flop with him at a place like LSU where you're going up against the equivalent of Ohio State more or less every week.

I think we're going to find a hire before we get down the list to Fleck.
