Since we’re making up shite, in my future, Bama fires DeBoer and Kiffin tells them to kick rocks. They end up bringing in Bill O’Brien and he runs the program into the ground.
If you’re going to make up a story, might as well make up one with a happy ending.

Lane Kiffin becomes the next head coach at the University of Alabama.

It has been proven that LSU can outspend Bama. Nice try.

You also seem to be strongly suggesting that LSU isn’t a much better job than Ole Miss and you think Bama is.
In the new world of NIL, transfer portal, etc., bama is not. Exactly why Nick said I’m out like a fat kid in dodgeball, he saw writing on the wall!!!!

Gives Drink two more years of HC on the job training.

I think it shows that bama without Saban isn’t the world beater that they were when he was there.and as the Saban era gets further in the rearview the more they go back to where they belong.
Which is still really high, but not 6 titles in 11 seasons high. But the bigger deterrent is that their fans won’t accept it. A lot think it’s their birthright. And Saban’s shadow is going to be casting shade much longer than 1 coach and 4 seasons. I’m not sure how many NCs he had to win there before he was finally able to step outside of Bear’s. To some old hats, he may still haven’t. Who wants to go to a place where you can win 3 NCs in a 10 year span and still be considered a disappointment?
It was one thing for DeBoer to leave Washington—nobody could have picked him out of a 3 person lineup before the NC game 2 years ago. He had to eventually bounce if he wanted to contend consistently.
By the way, I think Washington is getting really screwed by joining the Big 10. Especially combined with the expanded playoff. That’s a nice program that plays in a beautiful stadium on an absolutely gorgeous campus. The right coach could always have the stars align every decade or so and contend for an NC. But they were never going to recruit at the level needed to have the depth to sustain the more physical Big 10, the ground of that combined with all the cross country travel, and then string together 3 or 4 wins against the best teams in the country. They are about to be—and probably already are—a nice stepping stone job that aspirational coaches bounce from at the 1st sign of success.

I feel the greater danger with Kiffin will be the NFL.

idk this idea that kiffin jumps at the drop of the hat at the next job and he’s don’t hat pretty much one time.
FAU to Ole Miss is a normal progression
he was at Ole Miss for half a decade.
Now weee going all in on him and he’s deciding if he wants to jump to a powerhouse

First of all, if Lane is serious about winning titles, he can definitely win them at LSU.
Secondly, he seems like the kind of guy that wants to be his own man, write his own story, and create his own legacy. NOT be stuck in the shadow of someone else. Again, LSU is a perfect opportunity for that. (I would also say that Ole Miss fits this part, as well).
If Kiffin comes to LSU and starts seeing success, he will stay here for at least 4 or 5 years, attempting to win multiple titles here like Saban did at Bama. If he leaves, I doubt its for Bama...at least not directly. He could endure up there eventually, but likely through the NFL...similar to Saban. For his sake, hopefully, he has someone in his ear telling him not to make that same mistake.
Now, that sau
Id, why do multiple people feel the need to "warn" us about what could potentially happen? You don't think we've been watching Kiffin through Tennessee, USC, FAU, and Ole Miss? We are quite aware.

And LSU will be in a better place than it is today.

Curious, would most folks consider Kiffin to be a significantly better playcaller/QB developer than Bobby Petrino?
Heck even a Doug Pederson or Jeff Brohm?
You can also ask yourself that question when getting excited about the Dillinghams, Goresh’s, etc.
Some of these candidates are just new and shiny. But the landscape is littered with coaches out there who were already in that category, gained experience, and could be had for much less investment.
Maybe it’s just the thrill of potentially uncovering the next superstar coach. Glad I’m just a fan and my job is not on the line.

Loser. LSU is a destination not a stepping stone.
