I’m torn on Jimbo.

A move to LSU will only improve his recruiting classes and I suspect put him with Top 2-4 classes each year.

He has shown he can have exceptional years with good talent which goes back to my first point.

On the flip side, will his offense adapt and change?

Can he sustain a program?

But my biggest concern, and it wouldn’t matter who the hire is, would be some ridiculous long term contract and buyout. I prefer massive incentive bonuses.

And you are downplaying the power this program has.

This program caught lightning in a jar in 2019. There is no evidence anywhere that this program is the historical equivalent of Alabama, or even Ohio State. Some of you live in fantasy land. The difficulty in the ability to go 9-3 or 10-2 is mind boggling, the fact that what Saban does it better, year after year, is stupefying. LSU is no where near that level, and may never be. It's not being low brow, it's historical fact.

So tell me how we won 10 games so many fricking times since 2003. Recent History suggest otherwise. From 1992 to 2008 Bama wasn't all that and the bag of dicks its made out to be either.

record. Is not afraid of ALA.,thats half the battle won.

This is moronic. LSU has played for four national titles in the last two decades alone. We've won more titles than OSU over the same period. Bama has no intrinsic advantages over LSU. They just have a better coach. What self-loathing nonsense.

Correct. Again, LSU has a better natural recruiting base than Alabama. Alabama just happens to have the best coach of all time right now.

Id also be pissed.

His offense will never win you a championship.

His best qb at arse&m was kellen mond, who sucks. Jimbo molded mond for 3 years and he still looked bad.

Hell no to jimbo. If woodward hires jimbo and pays him 10 or 11 mil people should riot.

He would do okay until he ran out of O’s recruits, then he would suck because he can’t recruit.

The Hat wasn't a bad coach. Yeah, he was trending down, benefited from Saban's recruits, refused to change/adapt his offenses, was a dirtbag off the field, enjoyed a talent-rich state, etc.

None of that changes his LSU record of 10+ wins every fricking season. As I mentioned elsewhere on this board, his lifetime win percentage was still something like 0.680 even after the Kansas debacle.

I worked with the brother of one of Les' 4-star recruits around the time of his firing. Ended up meeting mom/dad but never the player (who went on to the NFL). Take it FWIW, but all of this guy's family members legitimately liked Coach Miles and were sad to see him go. These were folks who had spent time with Les and even entrusted their pro ball bound son to his tutelage. I always remember them when I think about CLM--it was really my only insight into who he was other than the caricature we saw on TV (and learned about from the Title IX investigation). He had his demons, and he almost instinctively opposed any kind of change, but that dude was a legit football coach between the lines. He recruited well, beat Saban, played for 2 NCs, and helped build the LSU brand into the top-3 landing spot it is for all the coaches we are discussing. He needed to go, for sure, but Les was at a completely different level than our $20M interim coach.

we’d be indirectly “saving A&M” from themselves…we WANT Jimbo there and them to be locked into a 10-year guarantee

Exactly. And then they’d throw ridiculous money at somebody and wind up with the better coach. Hiring Jimbo would be a checkers move. All it takes is understanding that that move would force A&M into making an even better one. Hiring Jimbo would be tucking stupid.

Basing it off of the last 3 coaches, 2 of which were complete Idiots, I say he wins a National Title?

Am I stupid for wondering how Jimbo would fare at LSU? No. It's not a foregone conclusion he would be exceptional and win NCs. Nor is it easy to predict he would fail. He would certainly stabilize the program. But would he build a dynasty with multiple NCs?
