Assuming Jimbo is the hire, how do you feel he would do at LSU?

On the one hand, he is a national championship coach and has a reputation for developing quarterbacks. He just beat Saban and is known for his command of offense.
On the other hand, he is older and, given the success he has already attained, I wonder how motivated and hungry he would be. I suspect a younger, less proven coach would be more energetic and ambitious.
My instinct is that hiring Jimbo would avert any further losing seasons and embarrassments, ensure that we are competitive each year, but perhaps prevent the program from reaching its very highest potential.
How do you think Jimbo would do? (And I'm not suggesting he is the hire, just asking a hypothetical question.)

Yep
My thoughts on Jimbo posted in another thread:
-complicated/clunky prostyle offense
-10 year guarantee, hands tied
-not worth Top2 money for Top15 results
-concerns about culture and off-field problems
-when we inevitably do fire him, is it a Florida St repeat of their dumpster fire?
-retirement payday, what motivation would he have to be the hardest-working coach in CFB?
-has already made it to the mountain top, I want someone who hasn’t and is driven everyday to get there
-"It’s the same offense that I’ve ran since 1993 or 1994," Fisher said in 2017. Yes, that’s a direct quote
-we’d be indirectly “saving A&M” from themselves…we WANT Jimbo there and them to be locked into a 10-year guarantee
All that said, I’ll be disappointed at first and then get on board and root for LSU and Jimbo just as I eventually did for O

Just wait till he gets his own players in there

He will win consistently and win a NC.
I would be happy with maybe 3 or 4 of the names circulated, take a "wait and see, I trust Woodward" approach on about 3 others and be really disappointed with 3 or 4 others.

Consistent top 5 classes, elite recruiting at QB with outside shot of getting Arch. Might be able to raid A&M lineman with +7 transfers this class.
If Elko comes, expect quick turnaround 2-3 years before back in national mix with best defensive mind since Aranda.
If Jimbo is open to self scouting and let his wr patterns evolve since early 2000s could be great hire with high floor.

Don’t get your hopes up IMO, he’s not changing.

He’d get close to winning a natty or win one. It’d be a great albeit stupidly expensive hire

9-3, 9-3, 9-3, 9-3
So, Les Miles.

He better update his offense and bring Elko, otherwise he is Les 2.0. We shouldn’t give Jimbo a golden parachute.

Imagine being mediocre, being unhappy with being mediocre yet are saddled to a ludicrous contract with Fisher.
I am very surprised our fans even have Jimbo on our radar. Not a smart decision IMO for a has-been coach. Member when we were busy clowning A&M for overpaying? Good times.

I mean there is precedent. Saban finally did it.
But I guarantee you Jimbo won’t. Hell, schools are offering him $10m and 10yrs, he thinks his offense works!
The good news is his recruiting and program management kind of covers for his outdated offense.

Ej Manuel and Ponder weren't good for his teams in college. That's the kind of development you want from your HC. Just trick an NFL team into wasting a 1st on them to be able to brag about it in recruiting but go 8-4 every year with a middling offense.

Jimbo is a 9 win coach that’ll get you 10+ every now and then. He won’t replicate his success from FSU bc the SEC schedule is far tougher than the ACC, especially with Texas and OU coming into the conference.

Yeah, absolutely. 9-3 every year is just the end of the gawd damned world.
Some of you people are f'ing delusional

Jimbo is not going to be the hire.

And you are downplaying the power this program has. You rather settle than strike for gold.

If it's every year, you think that'd be pretty cool?

So, Les Miles.
Les won 8 games twice and 9 games twice in 11 years at LSU.
And one of those 9 game years was due to a cancelled game that would have been a win. He won 11 or more games 5 times. You sure you're not thinking of Charlie Mac?
Come on Roger, you're better than this. Hyperbole does not become you.
