Kinda agree. Everyone is so quick to forget the whole third and Aranda thing. He would be a safe, consistent coach but unless he hits a HR with an offensive coordinator and a QB multiple times, I see the fans eventually calling for his head after a few 8-4 / 7-5 seasons.

What wouldn’t be a lazy hire then? Y’all always think the big splash is the best thing and it’s not.

It’s not lazy…it’s easy. Hire Aranda and the program will be in good hands for as long as he is there.

One way to think of it is: What hire(s) would legitimately strike fear into the hearts of our SEC West companions?

Because it wasn't actually a thing.

How many schools actually pull this off? It doesn’t work like that. The coaches that make the big splash y’all so desperately crave are already in good positions and don’t want to leave generally. Add in the fact that almost all of them weren’t big splashes when they were hired to begin with. You want completely proven and a guarantee and you won’t get it. Even if we did pull a big splash hire there is no guarantee they can recreate it here. Look at Jim Harbaugh…. Turns Stanford around, coaches the 49ers to a super bowl, and has been very average at Michigan. They thought they had a sure thing and it’s just been meh. Hiring someone like Aranda might not be some huge deal, but the guy has a ton of upside and is extremely intelligent. He’s a smart hire if you can’t get the ones you’re craving.
