Wrong

What UGA is doing is the outlier

Offense wins championships now and going forward

How many championships has Georgia won?

Hope you didn't just jinx them.

Aranda is my favorite coach ever, but if LSU can get an elite QB/offensive genius at LSU I would be even more down.

I would love to see LSU with Heisman caliber QBs every single season.

Started a long time ago when they stopped letting DB's hit people. Anyone else remember Ronnie Lott

Then they changed the rules about hitting the QB, used to be 5 WR set was asking for your QB to end up in the hospital

Besides UGA not winning shite, and LSU and Bama having 2 of the best Offensive seasons ever the last 2 years, your post is dead on.

Riley wouldn’t be allowed to hire a top shelf DC and a great football mind to run the defense?

Why do some people create this false dichotomy that LSU is choosing a side of the football so the other side will just suck.

He certainly would be allowed to do so. It's more a matter of is he capable of doing so (and building a good defense). He's been at OU for 5 years, and hasn't had championship caliber defenses. His best defense was in 2019 and we trashed it badly.

OU's defense is ranked 70th this year. For comparison, LSU is 68th. There are 4 Big-12 teams that are better (so it's not just that you can't have a good defense in the Big 12). His recruiting classes are good and he's got good players coming in, but other schools are building better defenses with 3-star players than Riley is getting with 4-star players.

Aranda, on the other hand, has shut Riley's offense down the last three times they've met, and two of those times were with a severe talent disadvantage at Baylor. Can Aranda put together an offense? He seems to have done so at Baylor. His offense is ranked 19th (453.6 ypg) while Riley's offense at OU is ranked 18th (455.3 ypg). And once again, that is with less talented players than Riley has. We don't know that Aranda can do that year in and year out, but he's shown he is capable.

So, in Aranda, you have an unknown(recruiting prowess), but Riley seems to have a deficiency (defense). I would rather have an unknown than a deficiency. And frankly the last thing I want to see is us grab Riley while OU replaces him with Aranda before coming to the SEC. If Dave has Riley's offense figured out, I sure as hell don't want to be on the losing end of that in SEC play.

I'd take Aranda over Riley. It's close, but it's Dave.

Riley is a much, much better option for LSU. Historically the state of Louisiana is deficient in producing one key position. It just so happens to be Lincoln’s specialty. Lincoln would have much better success on D with Louisiana athletes all over the field.

Well yeah. Duke Riley hasn't coached a game yet.

We’ve been to 4 NCs in the last 20 years, 3 of which were lead by the defense. I have no problem with Aranda whatsoever.

What have you seen from Riley that suggests he has any clue how to do this?

One can just as easily say Aranda’s “deficiency” is offense..

No, one can't. At worst it's an unknown. He's made an offense this year, and it's pretty much as good as Riley's. Dave has shown he can build an offense with 3-star players.

Total Offense
Baylor (Aranda) 19th (453.6 ypg)
Oklahoma (Riley) 18th (455.3 ypg)
