I don't think so. His current DC, Orlando, is pretty good right now. His old team was ranked 14th in scoring defense at Utah State and he has the Cougars playing well defensively. Herman would bring most of his current staff with him if he leaves.

UT politics could play a big role as well.

Boosters may run into roadblock with libtards running university. Do not underestimate the power of the libs in Austin.

Also, if ESPN and the talking heads had an issue with LSU/Miles last season, the backlash of UT firing an African Amercian coach (if he pulls out a winning record) would be difficult for the Austinites to overcome.

What would happen if Aranda joined Herman at UT?

Then we would be f*cked and doomed.

Where does this group think come from about Herman and UT come from? Did I miss something or is everyone just assuming he wants to coach at UT, like they were assuming he wanted the SC job?

If it's all about money, I could see being outbid by UT, but I really think the ad will not allow his guy to say no. Otherwise, LSU is a better situation than nearly any other job in the nation. He could win a NC within three years. He would own LA recruiting and cherry pick southeast Texas and our Florida pipelines. He would be at the epicenter of big time college football in the SEC West. The LSU job is THE job right now, so unless he has actually expressed interest in UT, why are people sweating them so much?

The LSU job is THE job right now

This is where the problem is. The only people who believe the above statement are LSU fans. The LSU job is a Top 10 job, no doubt, but it's only become a hot commodity over the past decade or so. Texas, on the other hand, is traditionally a top spot and has been for many, many years.

Herman got his Masters degree at Texas. He's spent the majority of his coaching career in Texas. He has zero connection to LSU or Louisiana.

Sorry that so many LSU fans are so blinded by purple and gold colored glasses, but it's pretty obvious to everyone else that he's going to Texas. I'm an LSU alum but I'm accepting it now so that there won't be any disappointment later. My guess is that LSU will land Jimbo, if the Coach O experiment doesn't work out.

The Texas job will be open soon enough.
The writing is on the wall.

I hate to burst your bubble, but you could have said the same thing about Les and he spurned Michigan twice.

Unless Herman has done or said something relative to UT, you are just guessing. UT could be a good situation but it's a full rebuild. LSU is a CFB playoff team right now. It's not homerism when pundits all over the national sports media are calling it a top 5, even top 3 job. The best UT could do after Mack was Charlie freaking Strong. Someone has an inflated view of a football program and it ain't Vacherie Saint

Charlie Strong at the time was one of the hottest names out there.

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you. If you want to set yourself up for failure, knock yourself out.

Mama you right on the nail head on that one. Top 10 job yes we are. But I don't see Herman here, he will take USC or Texas which ever comes first with the right number of 0s on the check. Bring Jimbo to BR and we'll see what happens then.

I think they will pull all the stops to get Herman if they can get rid of strong. It was funny to watch texas whiff the last coaching search they had though.

I really think that Herman being the talk makes Texas move first and try to get him by letting go Strong. But I hate to say that would be a vicious Move by all means if they do that. But something is brewing for Texas to make the remarks that they said yesterday after the game. Watch out with the game coming for Texas.
The Red River Shootout.
Could be judgement day for Coach Strong.

Come on man. I've lived in Texas 15 of my 50 years. Been to games at nearly every SEC stadium. Been to several professional games in places like Arrowhead, Reliant, Gillette and Cowboys - if I picked my favorite place outside of BR it would be UGA because of the "scenery" and feel of that town.
As far as UT, it is on par with UGA in that way and intense at night when they are really rocking. I said equal footing and I've been around long enough to know that putting down someone else's facilities and stadium, etc is for kids.
Go look at it for yourself and then come back. You don't get it unless you've been enough times. It's a great venue and UT has more $$ for many more years than us. Just fact.
