Bad feeling about it. Aranda too smart to pass up Herman offer.

After what I saw of the Texas defense yesterday, they would be stupid not to attempt to buy out his contract.

Over / under on how may more times this will be asked? If people would stop posting everything that pops in their heads it wouldn't get pushed down so quick and it would probably prevent future dumbasses from asking the same thing. Probably not. Carry on.

Why would Aranda take a job demotion with less talented players?

to coach at a school that is elite under a coach that he's not vastly superior to

If he wants to be a lifetime DC, or plans to wait a few years and jump to the NFL, then you guys are right. It's the right move. It is more secure for longer.

If Aranda wants a continued upward trajectory where he gets HC offers starting next year and then P5 offers the following, Texas is a 1-2 year detour. They have some young talent, but they are still thin and they are at rock bottom as far as mentality goes. That requires a lot of rebuilding. It took Saban over half a season with our demoralized post 1999 defense, and then still another year to get his whole system in. Texas is only slightly ahead of where we were then right now.

So, if he is looking to make the faster move up, I think he stays here. He is set up to have great defenses the next two seasons. That's all he needs for the big ticket.

how great will it be if he goes to UT because we didn't bid up Hermans price and left UT enough money to get Aranda.

not that they are short on cash.

There's no reason for Aranda to stay at LSU. Stay and take the chance, especially with Orgeron's record as a full time HC, that the program doesn't sink like the Lusitania, or go to an elite program were the trend lines will start to point upward, with likely more money.

I'm out of the loop on this one. What's the connection between Aranda and Herman?
