That is kind of a slimeball thing to do to Ole Miss. If true.

If true, they forced his hand. This will become much more common with the expanded playoffs. Will get even more common the further they expand.

It sucks, but it is what it is. There was always going to be some unfortunate long-term unintended consequences when everybody on every level started focusing on how much short-term money they could generate. Everybody loves it now, because it’s still novel. But there will be a tipping point and interest will nose dive in the next 10 years as they have taken everything that makes college football the most unique sport in the country and tried to turn it into the NFL. Only with worse football and over 4x the teams, making equal scheduling and objectivity—even with good intent—literally impossible. A lot of ours favorite sport is already dead and has been. Most people just don’t realize it yet. Sad.

Not the same as being the head coach but he didn’t coach BAMA in the National Championship when he was the OC

Was that his or Saban’s decision?

This makes ZERO sense! So, he'd coach Ole Miss if they make a bowl game?

If there was ANY truth to this stupid arse post - Kiffin's office would already be packed and he'd be heading to Gainesville.

IF (and a huge if) this is true, then this is probably the next best thing you could hope for as an LSU fan. Of course as an LSU fan, I would like Kiffin but to take him away from a permanent opponent is not a bad consolation.

Personally I’d be wary about giving him such a huge contract. He’s good no doubt. I think BK’s contract has given me pause in that regard.

Wonder who LSU will grab in this case…

Yeah, if it’s true that old Miss gave him an ultimatum, that was pretty stupid to do. If the coach don’t want to be there, let him go. But let him stay and give yourself a chance in the playoffs. Who knows when you’ll be back

That would not surprise me at all! DAVA be playin "Good Ole Bro" racial politics and favoritism. If he let's LK walk away to Florida, then the only other acceptable alternative would be Saban. DO NOT want MF in here, when LK was available. Verge will get run out of BR if this Kiffin/Florida thing materializes!

Not an ultimatum but it’s logical sense. He knows and ole miss knows that if he has a done signed deal with UF then in no way will he coach the playoffs.

That would be really, really dumb by
ole Miss.

You go on the national stage and get your doors blown off while your coach chooses another school in the same conference? Nothing screams “small time” more than that.

Best for tigers if Kiffin announces now rather than later

Word on the street is that verge hasn’t even started the process

I couldn’t imagine getting his team in the position he has this year and then blow it by agreeing to a contract at another school before his playoff run is over. You don’t get a lot of shots at a run like this in the SEC. Maybe he thought they could keep it quiet but if so it’s still a stupid move imo.

What? Small time is sitting in the cuck chair letting a coach that is leaving coach your football team and recruit your current roster.

I went back through his twitter posts to see if he broke the Napier hire. Dude wasn’t even posting about Florida back then. It’s all NBA posts. He knows nothing.

ETA:

This is one of the earliest post he has concerning Florida. Take it for what it’s worth

Your team hasn’t been relevant in 70 years and you think it’s a good idea to piss away a shot a title?

Thats stupid. No offense.

If the team knows he’s leaving, him staying to coach the playoffs may not actually give them the best chance of winning. And I’m not sure they have a great chance regardless. Depends on the draw, but you think they can run through a 3-game gauntlet of Georgia, A&M, and Ohio State? Could they win any of those games? Absolutely. Could they win 3 in a row? Doubtful. Not as deep as they were last year.

That’s the thing about CFB in 2025. EVERYBODY thinks they’ll be back now.

Again, like you said, IF TRUE, I’m not sure you can blame any of the sides really. Probably in the best interest of Florida, Kiffin, and Ole Miss. I hate that that’s the case, but this is just one of the unintended consequences of all the drastic changes made to the sport the past few years.

I think this will just become more and more common, unfortunately. IF a coach is determined to leave. Will also become more and more common for them to stay at untraditional blue bloods.

None taken, but that would absolutely be a coward move and there is a 0% chance that happens.

So Ole Miss is supposed to just let a coach they know is going to another school in conference stay and continue to coach the players he is likely going to try and take with him in the portal?

Are y’all serious with this logic?

I’m saying Ole Miss giving him an ultimatum is stupid. Let him give UF all the promises he wants, but let him coach until yall are done and move on. If he chooses to leave before the playoffs that’s on him.

If OM is worried about getting a jump on a coaching search the question of does that mean more than this season to your program needs to be asked, and any ole Miss fan that says it does is full of shite.
