nothing has changed. the perception problem began with the leaks in the UT enclave. these leaks have to be coming from up high. it seems that they have been quelched the last day or so and I believe there is still some work to be done before everything is finalized. the leaks probably slowed things down but where there is a will there is a way. if tejas wants saban and saban wants tejas it will happen. the silence of bama, saban, and the near silence of tejas and brown (they have responded tersely to a few media q's) tells the story. they are trying to do a deal and I believe they will if a fait accompli can be arranged. tejas may back out if the leaks continue just out of embarrassment alone.

True he has lied in the past so exactly how could he have made all this go away?

well on 60 minutes he seemed pretty genuine in wishing he had handled the dolphins departure and lying differently...seemed to have a perfect opportunity to do so but hasn't. Seems like a tell to me.

This whole thing has the feel of a Romney/Obama election or Joe McKnight/Landon Collins recruitment. Its fun to mess with gumps, but dont get emotionally invested.

There's a chance Saban leaves, but a greater chance he stays.

No but didn't he get crucified in Miami for addressing rumors? I know he should've handled it better. He did state that he's too old to start over.

Personally don't care if he goes or not. I like playing against him ever year and would miss that. But I do still think he is gone. By this point, Sexton should have gotten everything out of Bama that he could and the extension should have been signed.
Of course I am not involved on the inside, so there is no telling what else is going on. But just 1 week of this shite show and the deal he wanted should have been done.
As for the recruiting (in-home visits this week), this doesn't matter. Texas' #2 rated class will not suffer if Mac is not there. To me, it could only get better IF Saban would go.
So to sum it all up, I just can't understand why a deal with Bama could not be done by now if he is staying. No sources,"i know a guy", "heard it from this guy who knows Sexton". Just thought a deal would be done by now.

That's sweet, but don't you think it would've been more effective if the Head Football Coach would've said something to defend the kid? Still the same guy that stepped over a convulsing player, smh...

I can see why bama fans would take his evasiveness as a sign he is staying...i see it as he is leaving

Fair enough...

However, when you look at the hard evidence that he is leaving...there is none there...none whatsoever.

The only evidence that Saban is staying is his own word...which is admittedly spotty...but it has to trump nothing at all from the other side.

I have the same inside sources as the doc...well i am not sure if they are the same but I do believe a plan was in palce to take saban from texas. We will see but I think everything that has happened this week (not much) has me leaning that it will happen.

Some "Source" in Chicken's thread says that Paul Jr. is saying that Saban signs Alabama extension on Monday.

Brown was waiting to tell his players first before tellimg the rest of the world. There banquet tonight will be first time he has seen team since Baylor game. If he is leaving we will know by tomorrow if nothing is said then Brown will be given 1 more year to right the ship.

"Source" says it will be done Monday after the official visits are over and after Saban's trip to NYC.

He is either on a Bama owned plane or a booster's plane. Point it towards Tuscaloosa, go sign it, stop the media BS. It's not that hard.

A friend of mine has a "source" too (no, I don't believe him) that says deal is done. Mac steps down tomorrow, Saban signs on Sunday with UT.
So much BS gone around, at least it gives us something to talk about until bowl games...

Texas wants to make a big splash. A statement hire. They are "all in" on winning championships.

They see success in t town and are very envious.

Saban might end up at Texas, but I am willing to bet that very little, if any, of the supposed insider information that has been plastered all over this site has any basis in reality.

As of the moment, I am still firmly in the Saban stays at Bama column.
