Sounds like he interviews tomorrow morning.
Randall Joyner
He's the #1 guy that I want.
Randall Joyner
quote:
Former SMU football standout Randall Joyner returned to the Hilltop in February 2018 as an assistant coach for defensive ends, and took over the defensive line in 2019. Joyner played linebacker for the Mustangs from 2010-13, and went on to serve as a graduate assistant at Ohio State and Hawaii.
In 2019, Joyner’s line was part of a defense that ranked No. 1 in the FBS for sacks per game at 3.92 and in the top three in tackles for loss at 8.5.
Joyner mentored second-team All-AAC selection Delontae Scott, who ranked second in the league (16th NCAA) in tackles for loss with 1.4. Scott finished the season with 18.0 TFLs, ranking him second all-time in a season at SMU. His 10.0 sacks placed him fourth on the Mustangs’ single-season list and his career total (18.0) tied him for sixth all-time by a Mustang.
Scott agreed to terms as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers following the 2020 NFL Draft.
During the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Joyner was as a defensive graduate assistant with the Buckeyes, working primarily with the team’s defensive line. Ohio State went 23-4 during his two seasons with a trip to the CFP Semifinals in 2016 and a Big Ten Championship and win in the Cotton Bowl in 2017.
He served in the same capacity during the 2015 season at Hawaii. Joyner’s coaching career began as a volunteer assistant with the Mustangs.
A four-year letterwinner with the Mustangs, Joyner played in 50 games registering 240 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles and four interceptions. As a senior, Joyner was a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy.
He's the #1 guy that I want.

Seems like a great candidate!

Also being being considered due to Texas recruiting connections, especially DFW.

Great unless LSU hires him .

He's #1 to me. I can see Andre Carter being a good hire as well but this is the dude you want.
quote:
“Randall is a phenomenal recruiter, he’s a high energy guy that works hard at everything and relates well to his players,” a source said, “Put him in an SEC polo and he’ll be a top-5 recruiter next year.”
Media reports out of Austin indicated Joyner would be a target for Texas had Urban Meyer taken that job. Sources say he has fielded serious interest from multiple SEC programs and could be on the move soon.

Impressive, seems like it would be a great hire, and to GA under Coach Larry Johnson at Ohio St is saying something since he is one of the better d-line coaches around.

I had Charlie Partridge at #1
Joyner at 2a and JC Price at 2b.
Would be very happy with this. Seems timing is perfect too!

I'll have to look up on Charlie Partridge I don't know anything about him. He have some good lines at Pitt?

I'll have to look up on Charlie Partridge I don't know anything about him. He have some good lines at Pitt?
- Pitts defense has gotten better with him there
- I did watch a couple of games, namely ND (my father played for ND- force of habit) and they seem to give OL's fits. Even though ND drubbed them this year, they have an excellent OL and the ND rushing attack was pretty bad. They did a very good job stopping the run.
- Pitt has been top-10 in giving up yds/att rush last 2 years.
- His one year at Arkansas was about the only time EVER I remember them having a dominant DL. And the only name anyone recognized was Trey Flowers. The rest of them were not even players we recruited.
- Pitt was #1 last year with TFL and #10 in '19.
- I do like his resume in the sense that he's got "quality experience" mainly with a variety of different schemes. Not a huge wide variety, but he's not pigeon holed either.
- I considered him good enough to consider for DC based on that experience.

Apparenty white coaches have no chance of coaching at LSU anymore. We will be all black soon after the Cajun is fired for having all black players and coaches. We will be Southern University!!!! Yippee
