Alleva is taking a hit on a fricking message board. Most people I've heard from the outside gave said it was a pretty good hire .

Pretty much this. Almost everyone I hear talking about this is happy with it, other than this board.

How the hell is this a good hire? The only people who think it was a good hire are ESPN (they wanted Herman at Texas to salvage the Longhorn Network) and opposing fans. Remember everyone loved Les Miles too, because he sucked. We just fired a bad coach and hired a worse coach.

I have a feeling that the big money guys will soon hear how Alleva handled and reacted during this "coaching search" and Alleva won't be around for many more searches. Maybe, just maybe, he lasts long enough to make two new basketball coaching hires. Maybe.

LSU does not buy out Les Miles for 10 million dollars just to make a good hire. Alleva had seven weeks to line up candidates to make a great hire..
After it was apparent he was not going to get Fisher and Herman he should have done his job, Hit the reset button and done a true national search for the best coach he could have gotten for LSU.
What would two more weeks change? If odgeron does not work out he has set LSU back to where it was when we had to settle for Jerry Dinardo out of Vandy because our first choice Pat Dye Jr. refused to settle is buy out from TCU.
How do we know coaches like Gundy or Fleck would not have been interested in the job now that the season is officially over? We don't because Alleva decided to end the search and promote Odgeron who just went 5-2 with probably the most talented team he will coach at LSU for the length of his contract 3 years.
He was 3-21 in the SEC at Ole Piss.
Alleva and LSU could have done a lot better if only he would have tried. If not he could still hired Odgeron in2-3 weeks.

It's scary to think in a few months he'll be hiring two basketball coaches to attempt to clean up the mess from his last two basketball hires.
Think about it. His most successful hire is Beth Torina, and that was only after Murphy made him look like an idiot.
