What makes him any worse of a candidate than Frank Wilson or Curtis Johnson?
Plenty of guys I'd take over TT, but I think he's much better than you give him credit for.

With Rich Rodriguez and Mike Leach long gone from the picture, the Tulane search committee to hire a new head football coach has been very busy working on hiring a new head coach by next week.
The university may also have an announcement concerning the plan of a new on-campus football stadium coming to fruition.
While New Orleans Saints assistant Curtis Johnson has been a hot topic in the conversation of late, other names have emerged as interesting possibilities.
Sam Houston State head coach Willie Fritz has enjoyed great success as an assistant coach and most recently, as a head coach. He is a person of interest for Tulane but the timing may not work out with Fritz' current team still alive in the postseason.
His Bearkats are 11-0 this season and in the second round of the FCS playoffs after enjoying a first-round bye as the top-seed in the tournament. The Bearkats host Stony Brook Saturday at Huntsville, Texas. Fritz guided the Bearkats to their first-ever outright Southland Conference championship this season.
Fritz was a very successful head coach at Blinn College (1993-1996) and at Central Missouri (1997-2009), posting a combined record of 136-52-1. He won a pair of national championships while at Blinn.
Former Tulane assistant Trooper Taylor is another name which has drawn interest from Tulane.
Chris Scelfo's wide receivers coach at Tulane from 1999-2003, Taylor is in his third season as assistant head coach/wide receivers coach at Auburn. The Tigers won the national championship last season.
Taylor has also coached at Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Baylor and New Mexico and is known for being an outstanding recruiter.

Talked with multiple guys who have played for him he may have fun on the sideline, but they say he's a very tough coach.

Trooper will need scam newton type money every year to win 6 games a year, tulane only pays their Head Coach alittle more than Scam newton got for one year. Tulane ain't paying that type of money, just like baseball they build a new stadium and you are lucky if there attendance tops 200 for baseball. Now they gonna build a new football stadium on campus for the 300 people that attend each home game.

you don't hire a guy just because he can recruit. or because he is a quality towel waiver. look at porter at memphis or locksley. if i were a fan i'd rather johnson partly because of how he's worked with sean payton and that staff and brees and if you watch him on the sidelines you see him handle his responsibilities well. go back to his time at miami and he recruited this area and the guy is a good coach. saints receivers have been pretty good under his watch. i do think trooper is a decent coach, i feel like one of the most underrated aspects of auburn's team last season was how well their receivers blocked on the edges and downfield. his players love him but i would take johnson over him as a head coach everyday, granted we don't know much about either as head guys.
