The damage the end of this year and next year with a lame duck head coach could do to our recruiting will cripple the roster. Waiting is not smart if we want to actually compete for championships at some point, which is why we will probably do it

If we were like UH where all our booster money is a single person that would make sense. Sell the person on the change, get the money, make the change.

But the money needed to replace Sumlin would come from a group of boosters, and the attitude of the few big ones I know is they like Sumlin as a person (because unlike us they have had dinner with him a few times) and they appreciate how Sumlin has raised our program above what it was in the decade before he came. These people won't be happy if we fire an 8 win coach, and will let it be known in the pocket book.

The good thing about completely bottoming out next year is it gets all the boosters on the same page for the replacement, which means we pay top dollar for both a head coach and coordinators. Since it would be a multi-year rebuild anyway getting the right staff in place is worth a recruiting class or two.

When they lose to us on Thanksgiving Day, it could be more than they can handle.

I'm married to an Aggie, she was so hoping they would finally break the streak and beat us this year. She was pissed when Ole Miss beat them. Even she said Sumlin needs to go.

If the Aggies fire a black man with a winning record to hire a hire a white guy with a losing record, the SJWs and media will descend onto College Station with the quickness

Tyrone Willingham was fired after going 0-12. Washington STILL hasn't fully recovered from that.

if you really think about it, both big texas schools will fire their black head coaches and hire white coaches in order to make their schools great again.

I'm not trying to predict what we will do. I agree with you that I don't think it will happen. I'm saying those boosters are wrong for letting us completely bottom out. The damage it causes will set us back several years

What if we collectively dox'ed the boosters responsible? Would they actually make better decisions if they knew they would receive the anger and backlash?

In a Game of Thrones sense Sumlin was done the moment those two QBS left. If we have some sort of genius benevolent dictator for football we would have fired him last offseason so that way the new guy could have built momentum with this our most talented team.

But that didn't happen because we as a fanbase lack the killer instinct that say an Auburn has. Maybe eventually we will develop the hunger to be more aggressive, but a lot of Aggies are happy with a full stadium and more wins than losses.

It is much easier for (just as an example) LSU fans to say "fire the bum, we will take a downcycle just for the chance of getting a guy who can beat Saban" because its been so long since their last downcycle many don't remember or never experienced it in the first place.

We very clearly remember out pre-Sumlin era, and even though we all want better I think all of us would take what we are today over what we were a decade ago. That makes us slow to move, even to the detriment of our program.

No. The Wilson/Soros wing of the boosters has no say this go round. Either the Dallas or San Antonio faction will frick it up this time.
