Why wouldn't Herman not take advantage of trying to snag Orgeron away from LSU when he can. Texas is the type of school with the pockets and swag to steal CEO from LSU if LSU hired elsewhere. Orgeron saves face and leaves, gets to be young Herman's recruiting coordinator and still remain D Line, possible associate hc. Aranda seems likely to stay seeing that he can be named associate hc, get hoodrich w 2 million a year and wait for his right HC opportunity while he's already knee deep with the players here at LSU. Too much talk about Aranda leaving to texas but i see almost a more likely Orgeron to TX move happening.

LSU has been successful without Orgeron before.

I would gladly give up Orgeron to Texas if it meant we could hire the best candidate available.

of course. LSU is an easy place to recruit but still, O is a great recruiter as well. I'd be ok with it all and wouldn't blame O for going to TX neither.

if O isn't retained as HC, the chances are very slim that he will be at LSU next year

if he stays, its because he just really wants to be at LSU

You realize Orgeron was doing nothing before he came to LSU?

If he is such a hot commodity, why was he sitting at his mandeville home before LSU called?

He was biding time while his agent put the word out about how much he had changed and and how he was ready for a top 5 hc job.

If O isn't hired....

And O makes a lateral move anywhere else in the country (and especially to a worse positioned school like UT right now), rather than staying at LSU, then all of the pro O people are wrong, imo, and we would have dodged a bullet. It means he pretty much never meant anything he said.

If he moves up somewhere, grabs a Mid-major head coach gig or a P5 coordinator position, good for him for gaining the opportunity.

You realize this position was pretty much just made up and that Texas doesnt even have that spot on their staff?

likely he chose to take a year off after getting passed on the USC gig which he probably got a decent check for. So now the story is, we hired a bumb and we made him great.

That was his call. USC wanted him to stay on staff. After taking over for Kiffin who had gone 4-7, Coach O turned the program around to the tune of 6-2 the remainder of the season only to be passed over for Kiffin's twin, he left.

The USC beat writers agreed with his decision to leave immediately and Pat Haden faced a lot of backlash from fans, alumn, media and players for not hiring CEO.

Unless you look at the situation from his perspective.

Let's say you work for a company. The boss in the last nine months has only had four profitable months and five months with the company losing money. He is fired.

You take over and over seven months six are profitable and only one was unprofitable. Because of your hard work and accomplishments your company is guaranteed a huge bonus and another month of very good profit. You celebrate the weekend looking forward to the seventh profitable month and what the future will be for you at the company because of your accomplishments.

When you get to the office Monday morning a board member is there and tells you he really appreciates your hard work and accomplishments and how you have successfully turned the company around.

He then introduces you to the guy they have just hired to replace you. But, they want want you to stay on and go back to managing your old department. What would you do?

If that person was more qualified than me, why should I be upset? If that person came from a similar company with a better title, had a longer track record of success, managed bigger teams over longer periods of times, etc. If my resume just plain doesn't stack up, and that person might lead me to good opportunities maybe that's a good thing for me. Jumping ship for a lateral position would not be smart on my part.

But immediately leaving just because someone else got the position is short-sighted, and would prove that yeah, Coach O really doesn't think long term hence his inability to run a program over multiple years.

This happens literally all of the time, especially in the Academic Sector, the industry that this is coming from. Interim Titles are prevalent, and those people have about a 40% retention rate at that specific position. Most just go back down to being Faculty or Deans.

If he went to Texas I would be interested to see how it would change the LA recruiting for them.

Jesus, I have seen people call others a Beta on this site and not agreed. You have earned your Beta title.

You come in and prove on-the-job that you can successfully run the company and make it profitable, you are in line for a big raise and they bring in a guy to replace you and you don't care because he is perceived as being more qualified? frick that, if I turn a company losing money into a profitable company, I want my shot and my money that comes with it.

As with most coaches, Orgeron is an Alpha male. He's not going to wimper back to his old desk with his shoulders slumped over thinking about how wonderful it will be to work for the new guy who just replaced him.

Well, this IS happening at an institution of higher learning but if you think the big money, needing big results world of college athletics is anything like being a tenured professor, you are nuts along with being a Beta male. If you aren't a male I apologize for assuming you are !!!

I wouldn't. If you noticed it at all it would mean bad news for LSU.
