This comes from a well connected Alumni:

He has significant problems with the development of an offensive line. Either the schemes are too sophisticated or the fundamentals aren't being properly taught and reinforced. UCLA is a top 25 Academic school, so if his OL can't understand the schemes, than likely no college OL unit can understand and work together effectively on them. Josh Rosen was constantly getting pummeled by PAC 12 defenses before he went down. This is the reason Josh Rosen is injured. Imagine if he had to endure SEC Defenses.

He doesn't know how to mend fences after having issues with his coordinators. He holds grudges and it pushes them away. This is the reason that Noel Mazzone is now the OC at Texas A&M and not UCLA.

I don't think a single poster here liked that he seemed to have even been made an option.

THanks for the info.

Well OL doesn't seem like a strength for Jimbo either.... His QB is running for his life against weak ACC teams.

Sorry: Well Connected UCLA Alumni. Just putting this out there as options develop. Little nuggets of information never hurt to be known in vetting process of all the names tossed around.

UCLA 5 years prior to hiring him 45% W%

Jim Mora's W% thru 5 seasons: 65%

thoughts?

Jim Mora would be one of the worst possible hires we could make. He was a terrible NFL head coach that had one good year because of Michael Vick and he's never accomplished anything of significance at UCLA. I have no idea why his name would ever even come up

and now he's trending downwards hard. won 10 games a few years ago. then 8-5. Now he's 3-6. did the same thing with the Falcons. a good year and then a steady downward trend. Just plain terrible with the Seahawks. went 5-11 twice

65%
That still sucks especially considering USC has been down since he is there. That's an average of 8-4 or 7-5 regular seasons.

The man coached at the NFL level, and UCLA should be doing much better.

Those are my thoughts.

do you have any context on how impressive it is to win 65% of your games at UCLA?

He's won 1 conference game in a very bad Pac12 south and that was against Arizona who was down to their 3rd string QB.

If his last name wasn't Mora, he probably wouldn't even have his current job.

you realize he is their most winningest coach in 60 years, and 2nd winningest coach ever in their program's history, right?

You really think he is there because of his name?

that's funny because both Colorado and Utah are in the top 15 in the CFB playoff rankings. Washington State is 25th.

shite, 3 of the coaches that UCLA has lost to have been mentioned as possible replacements here at LSU.

Do you have any idea the challenges at coaching at UCLA? It's not easy especially with USC across town. UCLA is kind of treated like Tulane is in New Orleans.

I would be more interested in 81-year-old Jim Mora Sr. than his son.
