Is it the coach or is it the job he took?

The job is certainly part of it.

I’m pretty sure the Arkansas job is a death sentence

Arkansas is a fricking shite show, so none of this surprises me.

No idea, but it seemed like a really strange move when he took the Arkansas job. I mean, at best that's a lateral move. I don't know if he was just enamored with the idea of coaching in the SEC, or if there was something going on behind the scenes in Wisconsin. But Barry Alvarez was extremely unhappy that Burt bolted so I think it caught Wisconsin completely off guard.

They wouldn't pony up for better assistants

He tried to bring ground and pound to a conference that already has LSU and Bama while his biggest recruiting base outside of the state runs HUNH spread.

It might be that Arkansas is in a very bad spot in the SEC West with LSU, Auburn, Alabama and some of the others in conference that takes away his recruiting key players and in B1G conference looks weaker. Why is Wisconsin not the top 4 right now? Compare to the other 4 teams that have lost 1 game already! People might be viewing Wisconsin as not so great due to lack of top 10 recruiting class?

Wisconsin is notoriously cheap when it comes to coaches and assistants

I think he "had" a long leash here and "wanted" to try and run a program by his self. The BB experiment is a very apt name iyam. He was given the keys to the F-150 and just couldn't get it done.

Also what wildtigercat said.

Dude has no idea what he was getting into down here. Wisconsin due to schedule is usually ready made for 9 wins. You can win at ark. PetrIno and even nutt proved that.

This.

Bert even admitted that he completely underestimated the level of speed, physical toughness and athleticism in the SEC prior to taking our job, which is partially why his first two years were such a shitshow. Also, that would indicate he’s sort of a dumbass, because even the most casual college football fan is aware of that.

Our 2014 squad had something like 14 NFL players on it, and he won 6 regular season games with it.

A half decent coach who isn’t a blithering fricking idiot when it comes to using his playmakers and putting them in a position to succeed can win here. Hell, Houston Nutt won 10 games here in addition to winning the SEC West three times.

From Wisconsin fans I know. They were trying to run him off for losing games he shouldn't and poor clock management. That was at the time he moved. Some had started a fire Bielema movement, but he kept winning a down B1G.
