Then you would like the Inspector Rostnikov (Soviet/Russian) detective series by Stuart M. Kaminsky.

I wish Lehane would have written more in the series.

Can't be that mad though, he stopped writing them to write mystic river and shutter island. But I wish he would have jumped back to them vs his coughlin series.

Of all-time? Probably the Hardy Boys since I easily read 100+ books with them as a little kid As an adult I have also read all of the Jack Reacher and even all of the Stone Barrington books in between real books so I guess I still like trash detective novels.

Atticus Pund is an interesting investigator in a Who-dun-it within a Who-dun-it. We listened to The Magpie Murders on a recent roadtrip and thought it was very good.

The Charlie Patmrker series is pretty damned good and unique. The first one is as dark as it gets: Every Dead Thing.

That’s Charle Parker, by the way

Sherlock Holmes-I've read all of them.

Anything by Josephine Tey,not about a single detective, but about solving murders.

Ellis Peters the author wrote the Brother Cadfael mysteries which I discovered early enough to read in order. Great fun set in the time of William the Conqueror.

Nero Wolfe and his food, his flowers, and his mind.

PD James

Margaret Truman: yep, President Truman's daughter who wrote murder mysteries with her Washington DC as a minor character. Interesting insight as to what the President's daughter was impressed by.
