Brother Cadfael.
Haven't read enough mysteries to have other favorite detectives. I like Father Brown, as well.
Read Plum Island, but so long ago I don't remember much beyond it being really good.
Liked Poirot on TV with David Suchet, the sets were magnificent.

Any Tana French character...but Cassie Maddox is the best.

Atticus Pund is an interesting investigator in a Who-dun-it within a Who-dun-it. We listened to The Magpie Murders on a recent roadtrip and thought it was very good.
that book was weird. Anyway, he is only in that book.
Harry Bosch is prolly my all time favorite.
I really like Phillip marlowe and sam spade.

OK, I read Cold Dish the first novel in the Longmire series last week on vacation. I enjoyed the heck out of it. It was more humorous than the TV series, with Lucian Connally playing a larger and even funnier role.
Also, Johnson writes in first person from Walt's perspective, much more interesting, again, than how the dramatic presentation works (and I liked that, too.)

One of my favorites. Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin novels are the gold standard in my mind. Enjoyed all the Dave Robicheaux stories. Travis McGee, Nameless, Elvis Cole, Philip Marlowe...there are many great ones to read.
