What’s the best site/app to sell old books?

I notice Amazon u have to join “seller’s group” now for $39.99 a month. That use to be my go to place but it’s been a few years now since I need to get rid of some books. Ebay rips u off too much.
Any suggestions?

Flea market?
Give to the library? A lot of my paperback Star Trek books are from the 80s and 90s and are brown now.

Facebook Marketplace with shipping option or local pickup

Abe Books may be good for that. I've only bought books off of there though.

Are you talking “sell books to get them out of my house” or “I have some books that may be valuable and I want to get the best price for them”?
That can change the answers you get.

Sell to get out of house.
To touch on a previous comment. A couple years back i brought a huge stack of young kid hard cover books (mint condition) to the main library on Goodwood and the lady said “sorry we don’t take donations” I said your kidding me. She said no.

I wouldn't do Amazon or eBay. Might take you forever to do it not even considering the fees.
I've only bought on Facebook marketplace, never sold on there, but that's what I'd probably do. Just give a price for the entire lot. Sell just local if you don't want to ship or if you don't mind shipping you can get more potential buyers. Just make sure you factor in what it will cost to ship.

Unless you’re talking a really large amount, sounds like a trip to Goodwill is in order.
Like someone already said, trying to sell books for real value is a lot more work than you would think.
If it were me, I’d take them to the closest book store that still buys or trades. Pick out a few new books and unload what you got.

There's bound to be a used bookstore nearby that will buy them.

That’s what I thought, too. Used to be you could go in and swap for newer books, or even sell if you wanted to. It’s what I was going to do a few years ago but I was unable to even find a place anymore. I had tons of books to get rid of. I talked to a small library near me and they said they would be happy to take them but I haven’t followed through yet.

I solve this problem by just hoarding books. If I ever die unexpectedly, it’s going to be a very annoying hassle for my family.
Last time I moved, it actually pissed the movers off a little.

That happened to me too at a different library. I guess libraries have plenty books and don’t want to be the dumping ground for people to offload old unwanted books. I thought I was doing a nice thing.
I left the books there on the counter anyway. She kept chirping “we don’t take donation books!” as I walked out.
After that, I just dumped unwanted books in the book return slot outside.

I helped out a friend working the book sale at the local library about 10 years ago. Maybe one in four books sold, and the prices were cheap. By the afternoon it got to be "buy one get one free". Then get 2 free, then get 3 free, then take any 5 you want for free. At the end it was "take any table you want for free". Eventually most of the books ended up at the dump. Libraries don't want to mess with it anymore, there is just no money in it.

I tried listing some old books I found lying around on eBay. But they aren't worth much. And they never sold.
