Title says it all

Going to the mountains in a few days for a relaxing vacation. Looking for a good book to read in the mornings and when winding down at night

To be honest, I don’t read a whole lot. Pretty vague, but can be about anything. Drugs, history, spies, murder, sports, outdoors etc. Just looking for a damn good book.
Not really in to sci fi. Not really looking for a series either but I guess I wouldn’t mind if it was.

The Complete Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway
is an easy read, and one that you won’t feel obligated to finish. Can read a story or two in one sitting. Plus there’s several stories that are set in the Michigan outdoors, which sounds similar to where you’re going.

The Lost City of the Monkey God is a good one. True story about an archaeological expedition into Honduras after which a lot of people contracted some mysterious illness.

Try the Cuban Affair by Nelson DeMille.

Not my favorite DeMille book but it's entertaining and more current.

I have read one James Lee Burke Robichaux novel each summer for the past decade and enjoyed it.

Into Thin Air

And, based on your list of topics:

Without Remorse by Clancy. I think it hits them all actually.

East of Eden- John Steinbeck

Ada or Ardor- Vladimir Nabokov

Unlimited dream Company- JG Ballard

Suttree- Cormac McCarthy

All four are absolute masterpieces, but since you’ll be out in the wild I would recommend Suttree. You’d be hard pressed to find a better book than that.

I finished “Behind Hitler’s Lines.” It was great. It’s about Joseph Byerle (pronounced buy early), the only man who fought for the United States and the Soviet Union in World War II.
