The 3rd book in the Talisman series by Stephen King and Peter Straub. Just got it today. It's release day and I had forgotton all about it as I preordered months ago. Excited for this one.

Is that title taken from a quote from the Dark Tower Series?

I think it is. I think it was actually in the first Gunslinger book of the Dark Tower. All that crap is related in King world.

It is. Jake says it to Roland right before Roland drops him to his first death.

I wanna go back and reread The Dark Tower from the beginning because I started with The Gunslinger in 1992, but it is a lot.

I liked the series, but the ending was terrible.

It’s one of my favorite series of all time. But I read it in my 20s when I wasn’t really doing any reading at all. Since then I’ve become an avid reader and have read other series just as good or better but it still holds a special place in my heart. I absolutely loved the ending lol.

Haven’t read any of The Talisman series. I went to B&N today planning to pick up a King since it’s spooky season but most of the ones I haven’t read yet are so long and I need a break from the dense ones after reading Shantaram last month.

How I feel about the ending is heavily predicated upon my mood at the moment I think about it

I thought the ending of the Dark Tower series was about perfect. Spoilers....

I see how some think it was a cop out, but Roland couldn't just "win" after all the people he'd killed or failed to save. Wouldn't have been fair for him to just fail after such a long struggle, either. So make him go back, do it right the next time. Still devastating, but with some hope.

My problem with the ending was how lazily The Man in Black and especially the Crimson King were resolved. Roland’s ending was perfect.
