I didnt think all the dragon riders in the princess and the queen had Targaryen blood. Some old Valyrian blood perhaps but it was pretty clear one didn't have to be a Targaryen to ride a dragon, but it helps.
If I remember correctly at least one of the riders that "tamed" one of the wild dragons wasn't of any kind of Targaryen descent.

I pretty sure GRRM has already stated that the 3 heads don't necessarily have to be Targs.
Posted on 6/3/15 at 9:09 pm to Bamatab
To BE one of the heads of the dragon, you have to be a Targ. To RIDE a dragon, not necessarily.
I think "the dragon has three heads" had more meaning then just "we need three people to ride some dragons".

Not according to GRRM. Here is a link to the wiki page for the prophecy: LINK
In it, it states:

Martin has stated that Rhaenys is definitely dead, but also that the three heads need not be Targaryens.

So, anyone want to take a shot at how the last few years of the series has impacted any of the theories encapsulated in the first post? Here is the first group of them:
I think the weirwood paste being people or at least being Jojen took a major hit since in the show I don't think Jojen even made it into the cave.
Lady Dustin - no show on the show along with pretty much the vast majority of the northernern houses.
Tysha - not so much I think. Tyrion seems to have a new purpose now and his "where do whores go" spiel seems to have been skipped.
Blackfish - MIA lately.
Bloodraven definitely training Bran I think.

Hooded Man=Theon reflection of himself
Hooded Man=Benjen
Hooded Man=Blackfish
Hooded Man=Harwin
Hooded Man=Jon
Hooded Man=Mance
Weirwood paste is people
Benjen is alive and fighting a shadow war
Benjen is dead
Benjen is undead and leading the Others
R+L=J and Howland Reed is the only one alive who knows
Varys also knows R+L=J somehow
R+L=/=J
Jon=Azor Ahai and Dany=Nissa Nissa
Jon=Azor Ahai and Arya=Nissa Nissa (not Lannister-esque love, tho)
Rhaegar=Azor Ahai, Lyana=Nissa Nissa, and Jon=Lightbringer
Ned=shite swordsman
Aegon=Blackfyre=Mummer's Dragon
Aegon=Illyrio's son
Jon will end up with Val at the end
Jon is alive, but it was Melisandre who had him killed so he would be reborn as AA
Jon is dead but will warg into other animals a la Orell
Brienne will allow Jamie to kill her so that Jamie can live (trial by combat)
Jaime will allow Brienne to kill him so that she can live
Pretty Merris=Brienne?
Jamie will kill Cersei
Sandor will kill Robert Strong
Arya will wreck shite with Nymeria and her pack in tow
Dany will sail East to attack Westeros from the West
Blackfish will reveal Sansa's true identity at her wedding and will reveal Littlefingers role in her fathers death
Rickon is running a crew of Cannibals...lol
3 Dragon Riders=Jon, Tyrion and Dany
3 Dragon Riders=Aegon, Tyrion, and Dany
Bran will warg into Jon's dragon
Lady Dustin is anti-stark
Lady Dustin is pro-stark and just putting on a front
Varys=Targaryan
Varys=Blackfyre
Tryion=Targaryan
Bloodraven is the person/thing training Bran
Bloodraven warged into the Raven at castle black to save Jon from the wight and helped get him elected Lord Snow
Bloodraven is evil as hell and training Bran to become the Great Other that Melisandre foresaw
Bran was the one who warged into the Raven that got Bran elected
The lone wolf dies but the pack survives=the remaining starks will be reunited soon
Tysha is alive in Braavos and has Tyrion's daughter
CottonwasKing has an acreboyish attraction to Arya
The Others and the Children are fighting in league with each other against the Andal invaders
Rhaegar was planning to overthrow his father during/after Robert's Rebellion
Euron traded his dragon egg to the faceless man to kill Balon Greyjoy
Ned Stark did not kill Arthur Dayne-hence his son being nicknamed Ned...
Who wrote the letter to Jon? Theon, Ramsey, Roose, Mance, Jon writing to Mance who is acting as Jon, the 1989 Denver Broncos?
Hodor!!!
Too many baby swaps for mortals to comprehend

I honestly think they just didn't go that route on the show because it was a little too out there (despite everything we've seen

I don't know if the crow is necessarily Bloodraven, but I'm absolutely convinced it's someone. Just not sure who.

Daemon I Blackfyre, The King who Bore the Sword, was the son of King Aegon IV and his cousin Queen Deanna the Defiant. Daemon thus could trace his blood through two royal lines of House Targaryen.
Daemon was a skilled fighter and it's said that at The Red Grass field, Daemon fought like the warrior himself. The Black Dragon was knighted by the king personally and then bestowed upon him Blackfyre, the male ancestral sword, meant for he who would rule the kingdoms.

In the books, it is sort of clear that Sam set the whole thing up with the crow - the one that liked to say "Snow, snow" - the old bear's raven.
At least that's the way I read it.

I think Benjen or Coldhands was the hooded person rowing the last boat with Jon away from Hardhome.

George RR Martin is going to be doing nothing at all bar writing until his next novel The Winds of Winter is complete. At least that's what he'll have you believe, as the 67-year-old is determined to see the book on shelves before season six of Game of Thrones hits HBO.
Fans have been waiting since 2011 for the sixth instalment in his A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series, on which the popular TV show is based. Finally, it's sounding hopeful that we'll actually see it in the not too distant future.
"Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish, but I cancelled two convention appearances (San Diego Comic Con and World Convention), I'm turning down a lot more interviews - anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he told Entertainment Weekly.
Martin also decided against writing a Game of Thrones episode this year as he has done in previous seasons, to focus entirely on the A Dance With Dragons follow-up.
Hope this makes your day

He needs to release the book before filming starts, not before it gets aired

I noticed that hooded person as soon as Jon got in the boat. It seemed odd...

He's currently having issue trying to finish his 30 page description of a feast that happened 3 decades before the series between the cousins of two major characters

There is absolutely zero chance this book is finished by 2014. Come on people ADWD was slated for 2005.
I would say there's a 70% chance he doesn't live to finish the series. The closer he gets to finishing it the less time he's putting into actually writing it. Not to mention with the TV series gaining popularity he's got even more reasons to stretch it out instead of finishing it, and there's no way in hell I would peg someone of Martin's stature to make it to age 75 (he's already 64).
I love the series but lets face facts.. the further into the series we've gotten the more parallels to the Jordanian cycle. Stretching out the series, creating more loose ends rather than closing them, and the guy's 64 he's not writing two more books when the 4th one took him 11 years. He stretched the 4th book into 2 how many will he stretch these last 2 into?
My thoughts from this thread 3 years ago.

The hooded dude is somebody special. It'd be awesome if it's Benjen.
