I think Jon is more different from Ned than Robb. Jon is more of a realist, IMO.

For sure. I think if Jon was in Ned's situation in King's Landing, he would have survived it and been willing to do what Renly asked Ned to do. Jon is a more politically savvy Ned who is willing to get his hands dirty.

Basically my thoughts .

Really interested to see what happens when Jon comes back in TWoW. Does he head further South? Does he stay at the Wall forever? Does he go to Winterfell?

But Jon has certain traits that are probably more from his Targ side coming out.

I did some research on this in ASoS. There are a few moments when it appears his inner dragon is stirring. It also reappears when Jon reads Ramsay Snow's letter to him.

Also what are everyone's thoughts about when dany will meet Jon, assuming R+L=J is true?

I think she'll see him as the brother she never had

I also think that Jon has Targ traits too; he can be a bit hot headed at times and was kind of arrogant when he first went to the Night's Watch when he became Jeor's steward and was beating everyone in training.

1 of 2 things could happen when Dany finds out that Jon is her nephew and meets him:

1) She swoons over him like she did with Drogo and Daario and wants to have his dragon babies

2) She hates him, think he's a Usurper's dog because he was raised by Ned, "I am the real blood of the dragon not him!!!11"

And iluvdatiger just passed out.

Although I don't think she'll lash out at Jon. She put up with Visrys shite for years, but all the time was in fatuated with Rhaegar.

If she is hesitant she'll try and test if has targ blood by subjecting him to fire.

Reread Dany II chapter 27 in ACoK. She shows some attitude and makes me wonder about her ideas of the people of Westeros and the Starks. At that point she has only been told things by Visarys, and when it is told that Ned betrayed Robert Jorah called BS and she flared back that she wouldn't doubt it because he was a "usurpers dog," even though she knows nothing of the man. I'm starting to feel that her judgment is going to get a lot of people killed when/if she reaches Westeros and I don't mean that in a good way for her cause.

Just something I thought I should bring up seeing as y'all are discussing Dany and Jon's first encounter... If it happens.

Targs can still die by fire that just have a higher resistance to it than normal people. But getting roasted by a dragon will still kill them dead

Yeah, Iluv will freak out .

But I honestly don't see the Jany/Jonerys ship sailing. No way that Martin pairs Jon and Dany as a couple . A lot of book fans would HATE it (including me) and I think Martin doesn't want that pairing to happen either. Plus Jon was raised Northern and I don't think he'd ever marry or frick his aunt.

Also, Dany and Jon are neither's type. Jon goes for wild, bold women who keep to the old ways. Dany prefers douches like Daario and Drogo.

If Jon ends up having a wife/queen it'll probably be Val.

I also see Barristan tempering her judgement. Additionally, Jorah can provide insight into who Ned Stark really was.

The way I see it both dany and Jon need to kill the boy/girl and let the man/woman be born. For both cases that means amending or completely abandoning the world views they grew up with.

In Jon's case it is the overbearing sense of honor and duty at all times and for Dany it's coming into her own and making judgements that go beyond the world Visrys exposed her to.

I think Jon has done that.

Dany on the other hand is still a petulant little shite of a child

Agreed.

Dany coming to Westeros, from a book reader perspective, is BAD news. Her rule in Mereen has been a shitshow since the start. I could picture her show up in the thick of winter when the Others take over and wonder why she has no subjects to rule over.

As for Jon, I think his stabbing is the final step in letting the 'boy be killed and letting the man be reborn'.

Jon has grown a lot; Dany, not so much.

Maybe I'm too much of an idealist for this series, but I believe Dany will grow during the battle of Mereen much as Jon did when he held The Wall. Dany will have to make decisions that will put innocent blood on her hands and not beat around the bush so goddamn often by deferring to men to solve her problems, ie Visrys, Drogo, Daario, and Loraq. I mean her words are fire and blood for godsake and it's time she served some.

Jon acting like a man and a leader is the reason he got stabbed too

Chances are, he's coming back. "Kill the born and let the man be born."

Also, I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen in each episode/do an episode breakdown. Besides Episode 2, 8-10, I don't think any of us have discussions what's going to occur in the middle of the season.

In the trailer I thought I saw Brandon at the northern weir wood? I thought that was in the 4th book. Anyway I can see them doing a couple of mid season time on that arc

Dany is about to make her turn. She was brought almost to death by Drogon. Her second time in the Dothraki Sea was her turning point IMO. She started to see thing more clearly and I believe after wrecking shite in Mereen she returns to Westeros a proper Targ.

Bran doesn't have any chapters in Feast and he only has 3 in ADWD.

Definitely excited to see how they make Bloodraven and the Children of the Forest look.

Hodor looks like he's dressed like a Wildling in the trailer.
