Jerry Jones has said that he could get more than $10 billion for the Dallas Cowboys if he ever got the itch to sell the team. He also said a sale will never go down.
quote:

"Let me make this very clear," Jones told King. "I'll say it definitively. I will never do it. I will never sell the Cowboys. Ever."
Forbes reported in 2021 that the Cowboys had a value of $6.5 billion. The outlet said the Broncos, meanwhile, had a value of $3.75 billion.

I bet Democrats look at those valuations and think, "We should be taxing him on his unrealized gains."

He just nailed it. The problem with the Cowboys was/is Jerry was all about making money. Ed Debartolo was about winning. Joe robbie, the Rooneys were about winning. The Mara's were about winning.

He's probably right though. Despite not doing much for 20+ years, they still rank top 3 in sports organization earnings yearly.

Owning a pro sports team is the greatest flex for super wealthy people. They can get all their friends in to games and meet celebrities/athletes. Financially speaking, theses teams lose money every year because they go by what they spend on salary cap and act like ticket revenue and merchandise is the only way they make money. So they get to write off millions a year in losses so that’s a tax break there. Meanwhile their asset, the team, appreciates like crazy every year. I think they said Steve Balmer has written off like $400 million over the course of time being owner of the Clippers the last 8 years. To my point earlier, I’m pretty sure it was Balmer who was saying “Nobody cared who I was, now I can get a table at any time at any restaurant in Los Angeles.” It’s basically a power move and amazing tax incentive to own a team.

He won't sell them maybe. But if I'm the kids, you bet I'd sell them

Would be interesting to know how it's set-up for his kids (legitimate and bastard ones) not to have to sell to pay inheritance tax.

best thing he could do for the fans of Dallas is sell that team to anybody else that is not Jerry Jones.
