Paul Finebaum: ‘No One’ Wants Dabo Swinney As Their Head Coach

On last Friday’s The Paul Finebaum Show, a caller opined that Clemson would never fire Dabo Swinney because of his $57 million buyout. That led Finebaum to wonder why the ACC program ever included that lofty figure in his deal...
quote:

“First of all, these buyouts are absurd,” Finebaum said. ” … What program has ever tried to hire Dabo Swinney? Why do you get that type of leverage at the back end of your contract? Dabo’s never gotten an offer.”

“People can get upset about DeBoer, but the reason he got the contract is that they thought he might leave,” Finebaum added. “Nobody wants Dabo Swinney. Alabama, his alma mater, could’ve easily called him. That didn’t even enter their thought process.”

Finebaum always acts like he is 100% connected to everything behind the scenes at Auburn, Bama, Tennessee but he's so full of shite. He has no idea who Bama contacted to replace Saban. He kept saying Bama was going to hire Kiffin or Dan Lanning but he never even considered DeBoer. He was totally wrong when Tennessee hired Heupel. Finebaum wasn't very connected before he moved to Charlotte, NC for the SEC Network. Even though he's back living in Alabama again, he's even more disconnected than he used to be.

Bama was NEVER hiring Kiffin. I can tell u that for a fact and they never would. Lanning was indeed the first call though. If Deboer doesn’t work out the next coach will be either Lanning or Glenn Schuman. Oregon folks are getting a little impatient with Lanning and Shuman is the next Kirby but Kiffin will never be on the Bama list.

Never is a strong word to say. I would agree right now that's probably the case because Bama has some bad blood within their boosters with how Kiffin left. That said, if he tears it up at LSU...never is off the table. I can guarantee they'll take a shot at him and bury the hatchet.

How come LSU fans are very happy with Kiffin? I am going to say Kiffin will never win a championship due to his out of his mind calls or just couldn't get it done right no matter what.

Clemson has appeared in 4 out of the last 11 national championship games. Same as Alabama and their Covid title doesn’t count so it’s really 3.

Clemson has always had a patty cake schedule. They come in to 'ships well rested with no injuries and leave 'ships sucking air and with 5 or more injuries.

Dabo wants nothing to do with being a HC in rthe SSSSSEEEEECCCCC!!

No one wants Finebaum as the "voice of the SEC," yet here we are.

Dabo's shtick doesn't fit the current era and no elite program would take him. They are likely going to be unranked coming into this season which goes to show how he has no grasp on the portal era.

Dabi is the most charmed coach in the history of CFB. I don't care what his trophy case has in it nobody can convince me he isn't a moronic douchebag

Nice revisionist history, Finebaum. Dabo was one of the Top 3 coaches in CFB and won multiple titles before NIL and the transfer portal ruined everything for him. Clemson probably paid hm big before they realized that NIL would ruin everything.
