Took Bama for a ride last year

USF didn't play Bama last year. If you're talking about 2024, I wouldn't call 42-16 taking them for a ride but that's just me.
Elko would probably yell at players too if they could ever get his fatass away from the all-u-can-eat buffet. Give me a loud disciplinarian coach who wears his cap backwards once in a blue moon, over that Mark Mangino looking nerd that breathes into the microphone like he ran a marathon everytime he speaks. Elko always looks like he's about 2 Moon Pies away from having a stroke. He's constantly sweating during his interviews and his face seems to always be a purplish, red color. I give him 6 months before he surpasses Bret Bielema as the fattest frick to ever roam an SEC sideline. That's one coach that we will never have to worry about getting carried off the field on his players shoulders after a big win. They'll have to build a casket the size of a fricking Buick whenever he passes away.

Kind of like Opelika

Is AU in Opelika? frick no it isn't. But UA is in Tuscaloosa and that's a fricking shithole city if I've ever seen one.

I wouldn't brag about working in NYC. Remember what John Rocker said about that city? He caught hell over saying it but we all know he was 100% correct.

Tuscaloosa is a shithole

It really is. VERY high crime rate once you get away from campus.
We've had a thread for our predictions on the W/L record this year so I wanted to see what y'all think Byrum Brown's regular season stats will end up being. This is based on him playing all 12 regular season games. Predict completion %, passing yds, passing TD's, INT's, rushing yards and rushing TD's for him.

60% completion
2,550 passing yards
26 passing TD's
13 INT's
750 rushing yds
14 rushing TD's
This addition makes sense because Duke Smith is gone and Bryce Cain was just moved from slot to cornerback. Our offensive staff knew Tray Taylor quiet well and offered him in 2023 at USF. I'm not sure if he will see much playing time at slot but Golesh has said he could also be used on special teams. He's small but his stats were pretty decent for his size. He started in JUCO and was 2nd Team All-American (JUCO) there. In 9 games he had 850 yds. receiving and 9 TD's. He went to Coastal Carolina for 2 years and to Troy last year. Last year against Clemson he had 4 catches for 70 yards and a TD. That wasn't just trash stats either. Troy led #8 Clemson by 16 points at halftime on the road.

247 has him listed as 5'8" 160 lbs. I've also seen 5'7" 150 lbs and 5'6 140 lbs. so who knows? I don't expect him to play a role but Golesh had to do something because he was down 2 WR's (Duke and Bryce Cain). Picking up a 5th year guy this late is better than going without.
We damn sure haven't been overrated since the start of 2021. The last time we were ranked in either preseason poll (AP or Coaches poll) was 2020.

Hoping Golesh turns things around.
Vegas has the over/under at 7.5 but I'm not sure if that is how many wins Tennessee will have, how many int's Faizon will throw or how many chins Josh "Mark Mangino" Heupel has.
I'm sorry to hear this about the GOAT of college baseball. I'm thinking and praying for all of the LSU fanbase. The world lost a legend.

RIP Skip
Has any other school had 2 running backs drafted in the top 5 of the same NFL draft?

In the 2005 NFL draft, Auburn had Ronnie Brown drafted 2nd overall and Cadillac Williams went 5th overall and they were both in the same backfield at AU.

Tbh, I wouldn't be all that happy going 6-6 this year considering we have a 5th year senior at QB in Byrum Brown, all his offensive coaches and his head coach came here together, his WR's, his Center, etc. all came with him. We retained DJ Durkin at DC and it's true that we lost some talented guys on defense but we still have alot of talent on this defense. This coaching staff is really good. We have 3 coaches on our defensive staff that are SEC defensive coordinators with Durkin, Banks was DC at Tennessee and we got the DC from Mississippi State. We also get Alex McPherson back at kicker and he is 100% healthy according to reports.

Like one commenter already said, we face alot of new QB's this year who have no experience or very few snaps at all. Our schedule is tough, like all SEC schedules, but our schedule is like 11th or 12th in the SEC for SOS. So we got lucky there.

Harsin went 6-6 in his first regular season with Bo Nix and TJ Finley as QB. Freeze also went 6-6 his first regular season and that was with Payton Thorne as our QB. If we only go 6-6 this regular season, with all that I mentioned on our defense, offense and coaching staff, it will be underwhelming. I predict 8-4 and hopefully a bowl win for 9 wins. Vegas has us favored in our first 4 games.
That #76 O-Lineman is Jack Leyrer and he is a 6th year senior. He spent 5 years at Stanford before transferring to Auburn. How does a 6th year senior look this bad?
One thing is for certain, if you're a Notre Dame or Texas fan, you can take comfort in knowing your football team will ALWAYS start the season ranked inside the top 10 or 12. It doesn't matter if your team is coached by Tyrone Willingham, Charlie Weiss, Charlie Strong or Tom Herman, the press will stick those 2 programs inside the top 10 to start every fricking season.

This year is fine because both schools are deserving of their top 10 preseason ranking but it's all those years that they weren't deserving that I'm talking about.
It wouldn't shock me if most schools start doing this. I was watching Kirby Smart talking about this and he said he has been doing this for several years and he swears by it now. Like Golesh said, before NIL was around, nearly every player lived on campus. Now with them getting NIL money, they've got houses, condos, etc. off campus and some players, such as Alex McPherson, are married. Too many distractions when you're trying to bring your team together as one and there's 60 or 70 new faces on the team. Get them away from everything for 2 weeks and hope they can gel as much as possible.

I know Golesh hasn't coached a game for us yet but everything he has done so far has been right. He definitely seems like a very smart guy who leaves no stones unturned. I like it!!
You can also add Wisconsin and Luke Fickell to this list. He was also part of the "Big 4" hires along with Freeze, Deion and Rhule. Wisconsin has been horrible under Fickell but they've given him this year to fix it but I don't think he will. Fickell has beaten 2 ranked teams in his 3 years at Wisconsin and both were last year; Illinois and Washington.

One question; are you viewing a ranked win as the opponent being ranked at the time we beat them or they were ranked in the final polls at the end of the season? The reason I asked is because the stats come out different. Just going by ranked in the AP Poll at the time the game was played, here are some different stats.

Deion's Colorado team beat #17 TCU at TCU in Deion's first game at Colorado. TCU was fresh off a National Title appearance. Deion beat them 45-42. He also beat #22 Iowa State 24-17 last year.

Auburn has 3 wins over AP ranked opponents since the start of 2021. Harsin beat #17 Arkansas 38-23 on Oct. 16th 2021. Then right after that, we beat #10 Ole Miss 31-20 on Oct. 30th 2021. Harsin, along with Bo Nix, had us 6-2 and ranked #11 in the nation with a win in Baton Rouge as well. Bo getting hurt killed that season.

The 3rd ranked win for us came Nov. 23rd, 2024 when Freeze was in year 2 and we beat #15 Texas A&M 43-41 in 4 overtimes. That was Mike Elko's first year as A&M head coach.
First off, who the frick is this Mike Griffin cat? He was just a guest on Finebaum's show. Does he only cover Georgia or does he cover the SEC? He talked alot about Muschamp and what exactly his role was at Georgia. Then he said the Texas program under Sark just hasn't been tough enough and it needed Muschamp to come in and toughen them up. Then he mentioned how Muschamp was "head coach in waiting" several years ago at Texas when he coached under Mack Brown but took the Florida job before Mack Brown left.

Lots of talk that it's SEC Title and deep playoff run or bust for Sark at Texas. He has a loaded and expensive roster, he has the staff he wants now and they're expensive. If Texas doesn't win atleast 10 games this year, I could see Sark getting the axe but it would be hilarious if they replaced him with fricking Will Muschamp as fulltime HC. I just don't see how that makes sense.
After Hugh was fired last year, one of our writers said that Hugh played a round of golf in Waco on friday morning and then we played Baylor that night. If true, that's pretty wild. I know we beat them comfortably but still, that's not sending the right message to your players and staff. Not shocking when some star players reportedly loafed in practices. We saw the loafing on saturdays too.
