Protesters hung this antiracism sign from the outfield wall at Fenway Park during Wednesday night’s game...

Their statement on the incident...
quote:

There were originally about eight people involved who had this idea, and those eight people come from various organizing groups in the Boston area,” the person explained. “Mostly groups that affiliate with racial justice causes. And the banner came in response to the racist comments at the beginning of the season at Fenway [that Adam Jones spoke of].”

“We want to remind everyone that just as baseball is fundamental to American culture and history, so too is racism,” the group said in a written statement. “White people need to wake up to this reality before white supremacy can truly be dismantled. We urge anyone who is interested in learning more or taking action to contact their local racial justice organization.

“But overall, we saw, we see Boston continually priding itself as a kind of liberal, not racist city, and are reminded also constantly that it’s actually an extremely segregated city. It has been for a long time, and that no white people can avoid the history of racism, essentially. So we did this banner as a gesture towards that, to have a conversation about that.”

Northern states are the most racist, and segregated states in the country. Never been to boston, but if it's anything like Chicago then yeah northerns need to look in the mirror. This crap is getting out of control, and forcing seperation not racism.

I like how these media types keep calling them fans. They aren't fans. They only went to hang their silly banner and score some SJW points.

Odd, how come so many minorities are tripping over themselves to move to such a racist country? Also, how come the minorities we have aren't attempting to move away to countries that aren't racist? I know the answer, I just wish progressives did as well.

Trying to use logic with progressives? That's a waste of time. Every time some group does this crap it makes the probability of Trump being re elected higher.

Baseball isn't really American anymore. It's more of a Latin American sport.

what kills me about the last line of the statement above, they basically say all white people are racist, without saying those specific words. that is part of the issue - lumping everyone under one umbrella, when the issue is with individuals and groups of individuals - not every person.

It's funny how America ended slavery, yet MANY other country's still practice racism & slavery everyday in the most barbaric of ways but no Libs or Liberal Media will bring attention to that! These people ultimately want to purge Christian roots from this country.

As long as white people are the only ones who can be deemed racist, any real issues will be never resolved.

Boston is the last place that should be condemning racism. They didn't integrate their schools until 1972. A good read on their behavior back then. LINK

IIRC the Red Sox were also the last team in MLB to integrate.

I'm really getting tired of this bullshite narrative. These "organizing groups" that lead these idiots around by the nose could give two shits about racism. It's all politically motivated.

Larry, do you ever get any original content besides the girls you stalk? Everything you post comes from the OT, MAN or The Rant. At least give the original poster some credit. Lol.

ESPN will continue to lose viewership as people are sick of hearing all this moral preaching. Sports are an escape from politics and division and the more they ram it in viewers' faces, the more people will stop watching. The same can be said about any recent political statements they've made.

frick these people. frick their ignorance and frick their "no white people can escape the history of racism" bullshite. Read a book you ignorant mofos. Learn about how Irish people were treated. Plenty of them in Boston. Or learn about white people like my grandparents who moved here in 1942 because actual Nazis were trying to kill them.

My great grandmother and great grandfather came to this country as Hungarian immigrants in the early 1900s. My great grandmother was an indentured servant for three years to pay off her boat transportation. They settled in Youngstown Ohio then moved to Louisiana to find work. It was a hard life, but they made it. They didn't have time to be racist as they were too busy trying to house, clothe, and feed their family. Meantime, in the 1942s their family that stayed behind were shot and killed by Nazis during WWII. So please spare me.

Panhandle, interesting. My great grandparents also came over from Hungary in the early 1900's. They ended up in Canton Ohio. Grandfather grew up to be a Sherman tank gunner in the battle of the bulge. I don't know what happened to my relatives over there. Interesting parallels.

Look Panhandle, if you don't understand that your grandparents, parents, AND you are racist and everything that is wrong with the lives of African Americans if either directly or indirectly white people's fault, then I guess you'll never live in a truly great America.
