LSU defensive tackle is no longer on the LSU Football team, according to Shea Dixon.

Mitchell, a former four-star prospect from Oradell, N.J., transferred to LSU this past offseason.

The 6’6, 350-pounder did not appear in LSU's first two games this season. He played in five games with the Longhorns last year.

Mitchell was initially recruited to Austin by Bo Davis, who then recruited him to LSU when he was coaching the defensive line for the Tigers. Davis ultimately left the staff to take a job with the Saints after Mitchell transferred to LSU.

So, can he hire on with someone else right now or does he have to wait until the portal opens again?

In my opinion, Sydir Mitchell is “once a Tiger; always a Tiger”.

I wish the young man nothing but a bright future as he represent the Purple & Gold out in the world.

Please respect his decision.

I kinda accepted this when Davis lefr and we later we got Williams. Too different styles, plus this guy wasn't the only guy who came to LSU strictly off the strength of Davis (the big kid from the high school class left too months back). However, that's just my guess. Could be anything.

This is the era we are in now. No more guarantees or just giving playing time to be nice. These kids are making jack now, it’s the real world. If you don’t cut the mustard, you won’t see playing time. It is what it is.

Just was not what current position coach prefers. Still could succeed somewhere else. Wish him luck… preferably outside of the SEC.

Kinda puzzling to transfer two games into the season. Best of luck to this young man.

We don't know the true story behind this. When a player leaves, it's not right to call him names or insult him. Let him go and wish him well.

No one knows the real story, and it's not necessary to know in order to be nice. There could be a multitude of legitimate issues the kid is dealing with. Wish him well. Move on.

Was hoping for a big dominant guy in the middle, I trust our coaches. This guy got deserted by Davis twice, very unfortunate for the young man
