Baton Rouge-based Tin Roof Brewing Company announced last Friday that they will be releasing an officially licensed LSU beer. The new beer is expected to ready and available for the 2016 Football season.

From the official Press Release:
quote:

“We’re really excited about this beer,” William McGehee, co-founder of Tin Roof Brewing Company said. “We want to make a beer that the LSU community can not only be proud of but also be a part of.”

In an effort to make this beer feel as local as possible, Tin Roof wants the fans of LSU to help them decide what beer to brew.

“We’ve created a slate of 8-10 test batches of various styles to sample in a blind tasting panel,” said McGehee. “Each recipe was designed with the types of activities that LSU fans enjoy, such as tailgating and grilling out. The panel will be made up of these fans and they will determine the winning style that we’ll brew.”

Everything at tin roof is a thousand times better than abita purple haze-this much is certain.

"LSU tailgating is out of control and we can't encourage binge drinking" "Hey let's make some money out of a beer licensing agreement" Nothing against the beer, I love the idea. But the LSU administration looks really hypocritical doing this weeks after banning Greeks from tailgating on the parade grounds.

LSU beer is on ITS way, not it's way. Lose the apostrophe.

While Tin Roof doesn't brew great beer, they seem to be pretty good at making some coin. Wonder how much of a chunk the ol' alma mater will be taking from sales.

Missed opportunity with Abita's brewery. Absolute fail. They make great beer and it's local.

Abita isn't any better than tin roof, tin roof has a few better beers than abita if anything.

Tin Roof makes shitty beer. I really want to like and support the local guys, but no matter how many times I try their beers, they just suck.

It's definitely not something I reach for but I don't think it's awful. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm shocked the puritans at LSU have allowed this. Maybe one day we can even have the dread alcohol in Tiger stadium.
