Former LSU Heisman Trophy quarterback Jayden Daniels sent out the following message on Thursday to address the No. 5 controversy.

quote:

"I have been locked in on training camp and that's been my number one focus. I have a lot of gratitude for my time at LSU and I'm proud of what my teammates and I accomplished there. Obviously there are issues to be worked out between my team and LSU and my hope is that it will get done privately. My sole personal focus is on Commanders' football. I realize the business of football is unique and I trust this can all be resolved."

Jayden, just concentrate on what is on your plate and in front of you. Your time at LSU has come and gone. Plus, you do not have a "Patent" on the Number 5! Wake up buddy!

There are no issues to be resolved. LSU owns the number. You don’t.

If LSU is selling merchandise with the #5 on it and no player name on it then I would say there is a fair argument that his likeness is driving the sales. The same could be said for #9 and #7.

If LSU makes the argument they reassigned it to another player that is not an absolute superstar, but are benefiting from sales through the roof for plain #5 gear then I think there is something to be challenged.

Based on what? As long as he is paid his licensing fees, he has no complaint. LSU owns their media including highlights of Daniels while at LSU. LSU can publish those images without his permission.

That’s a silly argument. Are you also going to pay Skyler Green, Derrius Guice, Kary Vincent Jr.? This could apply to any former LSU players that have any number. The number belongs to the university not the player. This is not the NFL.

Love you JD. But it doesn’t seem like you’re “locked in at training camp”

JD is a momma's boy bitch. Needs to worry about the "Redskins" upcoming season vs. who is wearing #5 at LSU.

Take your ball and go home. #5 isn't exclusive to you.

He wants to get paid. LSU is probably using clips of him at LSU and someone in family thinks he should get paid.

The only thing I question is the verbiage they are asking to c&d the name image and likeness. Is this more than just the #5? If LSU is using JD in some other way I can understand, but if it's strictly about the #5 then yeah he has no say.

It’s probably the number 5 jersey with Daniels on it

Apparently, your sole focus is not on Commanders football. Your reputation is now tattered

Momma just trying to get her boy some more $$$ while he can since she knows his fragile body won't last in the NFL

Hey news flash. In my life people don't make things public that they want to keep private. Perhaps you need much more wise & mature people on your team.

Purple and Gold #5 belongs to LSU, not Jayden Daniels.

"I have been locked in on training camp and the jersey number I wore years ago in college" Totally locked in, training and jersey, training and jersey that's all I think about every morning

Not saying I want him to fail now, but ….
That damage control message really makes him look even more the fool.
