Historically, Year 3 was the litmus test to see what a coach really had. But in this new era of college football, building a program the right way might take more time—or it could mean spending heavily, getting a bit of luck, and competing for a championship without any guarantees of winning. It all takes time. DeBoer is, what, a top 6-8 coach in the league? Plus, he's still young at only 50, so he'll be around for a while. He’s going to have his team ready, and the offense will be humming. Combine his offensive skills with LSU's inexperienced starters, and mistakes are bound to happen. Milroe absolutely dismantled us, but outside of that I think the Tigers would have been in a solid position to compete, if not, win this game. LSU still has to execute and fell short of that, but they will learn immense lessons from this game.
Look at the SEC; it's a bloodbath. The days of undefeated champs in the SEC are over—the league is too competitive, and any team can win on any given week. You have to keep building. There’s no savior coming.
For those calling to fire BK, who would you replace him with? The list of possible replacements is short. BK puts a lot on his coaches’ shoulders, but that’s how it has to be. Do your job every second, every minute. Keep your head up, Tigers!
